e-docs???

Am I the only one getting these so called e-documents from Cruisequick.com??? I couldn't believe that my documents for our up-coming cruise on Century were delivered via e-mail - no luggage tags (they said just talk to the porters at the pier and they will print out bar coded ones). It's confusing enough when you get to the pier without having to have the porters print out your luggage tags!!! I love computers and I love e-tickets for airline flights - but this is too muchy for me. I guess I am old fashioned when I am going cruising. If I hadn't had the Adobe software already on my system, I would have had to download that too . There were so many problems with the booking that they aren't even worth going into - and we booked it last January - but from now on I will be using my land based travel agent whose office I can visit! Thanks for listening!

Never have received E- Doc's before. We always get the real thing. We use online travel agency but still get regular Doc's, I don't think I would like E- Doc's either.

I never have had e-tickets before but booked a very late cruise once and had NO documents about 1 week before a cruise. I really wanted baggage tags though. So I called the cruise line myself and asked them to send me some ASAP. So they did. Also, did they at least send you the various forms to fill out in advance? It's a pain in the behind to fill them out at the pier.

I have found out that RCCL/Celebrity's policy is to issue these kind of docs if a cruise is booked within 21 days of sailing. Since I didn't do this, I went back to Cruisequick.com and asked for real documents - they are exclusively e-docs and won't sent the real thing. Others have told me that a TA can request the docs, but there is a charge of $35.00 for issuing and handling. They also said that RCCL/Celebrity is headed in the direction of e-docs as a rule - not the exception. I have no problem filling out the info that they want prior to the cruise on line and I really have no problem with e-docs - but I do have a problem with no luggage tags. It can be a real nightmare when you unload at the pier (especially if you come on a bus the way we usually do) and then have to claim the bags, get the porter, have him issue the tags, be sure they are correct. I guess this is the way things are going - but I find it to be cheap, cheap, cheap!

Always use cruise Quick but have never recieved E Docs. Was this cruise booked a short time before the sailing?

As long as they get you on the ship is about all that matters.

We were sent edocs with no luggage tags. The people who took the luggage at the terminal were very busy, and kept telling us to wait. Finally we decided, after about 30 minutes to just take our luggage on the ship. We were then told that we had to check the luggage. It then took another 45 minutes to finally get the luggage tags. Good thing we arrived at the terminal early. Needless to say, we do not like edocs.

I heard that RCI is going e-docs for those people who have booked a cruise within 90 days of the sailing.

Just to clarify - we did NOT book within 90 days of sailing - we booked last January! We do not have a problem with e-docs - just the lack of luggage tags. We also have a problem with the way Cruisequick handled this booking - we had used them previously twice with no gllitches - but this time it wasn't so smooth! Not blaming them - they have no control over e-docs. We were able to get luggage tags sent to us by calling Celebrity customer service. That solves the problem - but shouldn't have to happen -

I just received e-docs for the upcoming New Years sailing on Mercury. This was booked over 6 months in advance and paid for 90 days out (Holiday sailings require earlier payment). I too dislike the lack of luggage tags - the pre-printed peel & stick ones were great and we were always able to use one to stick on our case of champagne and it always made it to our suite.

I like the online registration and shore excursion purchasing, but not this new method of getting the documents.
