If you haven't discovered these rooms, you should check them out. Lori was able to get us one for our March 8 Star Princess cruise.

We absolutely LOVED this room. You could hear if there was a show in the Vista Lounge, but we only went to bed early enough to matter one night. There was also a little more motion perhaps, but we loved it. Nothing like being rocked to sleep at night! It was so incredible to have such a large vista. To be able to see the wake was great too.

There was a pool lounge chair already there as well as a table with two chairs and another reclining chair with footstool/endtable. We spent as much time out there as we could.
If you have this room, you will love it!

Check out the pictures at the photo gallery under Mr8 Star Princess to Mexico.

Thanks Mary Ann, we have 729 booked for this week end and after looking at your pics, we are very excited. That balcony looks wonderful. We have sailed on the Grand before in a mini suite but the balcony in 729 looks twice the size of the one we had last time.
Now.............back to packing, only a few more days until we leave.
Thanks again for posting those pics. :thumb

Toto-
Oh, lucky you! You will have such a great time! We love this class ship (have been on all three in the last 16 months) and this balcony makes the mini-suite first class all the way!

We've only been off less than 2 weeks and already I'm dying for the next cruise! Have a wonderful cruise!

The last time we were on the Grand, we stayed in the Vista Suite, E733, which is a next-door neighbor to E729. There is definitely more movement there in the aft compared with cabins just a little more mid-ship like E700. We've had aft suites on other ships and not felt as much movement as the Grand tends to have. The suite was incredible and I love the Grand, but for the movement and loud creaking noises, we'd never book on the aft again on that particular ship.

E729 is a great cabin. I was surprised that there were mini-suites on the Emerald Deck, as all the others are on the Dolphin Deck. The balcony looked to be the same size as the Dolphin Deck minis, as we stayed in one of them on the previous cruise. The benefit of being in the back of the ship is that you have a lot less passenger traffic noise.

If you prefer to hear less of the ship's creaking and moaning and much less movement, go for a more mid-ship location.

My friend just returned from the 3/22 cruise on the Golden and had E728. They loved the extra large balcony. But, she said there was quite a bit of "noise-bleed" from the Vista Lounge below. It didn't really bother her much, as she was not in the room most of the time the shows were going on. However, on the last night, the passenger talent show takes place late (I think 10:30 or 11pm) in the Vista Lounge, so it was tough getting to sleep.

On another note, we have sailed the Grand twice before and there was never a problem with children running rampant. On this cruise on the Golden, apparently it was spring break week for young children in some parts of the US and the ship was filled with children. They were running down the hallways and knocking on people's doors and running away. In fact, my friend heard that at least one of the children did something bad enough (stealing or something) for the cruise ship to make the family disembark at a port along the way. Someone else had mentioned that they don't think Princess is monitoring the number of children on board as well as they used to. Or perhaps they allow a larger number of children on the ship during peak periods.
