Did anyone do this excursion? if so can you give me some feedback. It would be out of Skagway to Haines. We will be going on the May 29 cruise to Alaska. Trying to narrow down some of the excursions for a family of four. thanks for all your help

We did this ( or one similar) on our first trip to Alaska. There was about 3 large black dinghys with 5/6 people in each including the tour guide. We took a ferry to Haines and then a 'school bus' to the river. They suppplied large waterproof ponchos. It was a wonderful trip. very calm and peaceful , we took lots of photos. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)

The only thing that could have spoilt this trip was the loud mouth couple who were speaking on the cell phone as the tour guide was trying to speak to the group on the bus! He basically told them to shut up, in a polite way of course :lol After that they 'behaved' :grin

We did the river float on our Yorktown Clipper cruise. We'd docked in Haines and rode the "school bus" to where the rafts were. The weather was perfect (late August), and it was a calm float through beautiful scenery. Lots of eagles!

Where we waited on the riverbank to board the boats, the mosquitos were numerous and aggressive. My wife had used Avon Skin So Soft, and was not bothered. I had no protection, and got six or eight bites, which developed into huge welts that lasted for weeks! This was the only place we encountered mosquitos, and I'll take repellant when we go back...

Take Care, Bob
