I am booking an excursion with Captain Marvin in the Grand Caymens. I will be on the Galaxy. My question is regarding getting off the ship early enough to book an early trip. I know that certain ship excursion get to catch the first tenders into town, but since this is a private tour that I am booking myself, will we be able to get off early if our tour is early? Thanks for the advise.

I don't think you will have a problem. We were in your same situation this past July on the Century. We had an early morning tour booked with Native Way, not through the ship. The lines moved very fast & we made it onto the island with plenty of time to spare. Remember that the ship operates several tenders so that they can get everyone ashore quickly.

Enjoy.

You were lucky. On our trip there on Enchantment, the organizing to get to the line for the tenders took forever & everyone got off late..there was chaos on the dock until everyone found their tours. There were too many ships in port that day so maybe that's why but Royal just was not well-organized. I'd book later to be sure.

We privately booked through Captain Marvin over Christmas while on Voyager. Our tour was for 11:15 and we had more than enough time to eat breakfast, stroll back to the cabin and then get on a tender. When you get off the tenders, turn left off the pier and walk until you reach Captain Marvin. It is quite a distance, compared to the size to Grand Cayman, but not a bad walk. Give yourself 15 or 20 mnutes to walk. From there, Captain Marvin takes you by bus to the boats (at his own home) for the tours. Hopefully, you are going to Sting Ray City - what a blast, a not to missed tour.
