Just a tip for those leaving Long Beach (don't know about other ports!). We arrived at about 11:00 the day of embarkation and didn't realize that you can go into the Queen Mary to get registered earlly. We were going to kill time by doing a Queen Mary tour and when I went to go get tickets, the nice girl at the booth asked us if we had registered yet. She directed us to the Queen Mary where we promply registered. The earlly registration area closed down almost as soon as we arrived so we just made it under the wire. Then when we actually got into the embarkation area we were able to bypass the huge lineup of people getting those "sail and sign" cards. It was a big timesaver!!!! Probablly something that you experienced cruisers already knew but which we just stumbled upon!!!
