St Thomas has the beautiful Magen's Bay beach..consistently rated in the top 10 beaches in the world..been there ,the snorkeling is not top drawer.the beach is incredible..;)...St John the next door neighbor Island is better for snorkeling..shopping in St Thomas is not to be believed..a billion jewelry stores..a lot of people love Orient beach in St Maarten..top-optional and nudity are there..to remember if that is a problem..St Maarten also famous for shopping..while I've departed out of San Juan on 3 cruises..I don't get too excited..but the Bacardi Rum Factory,Old San Juan Fort, are big draws...More should give info too..Good luck..:)..Post on the main Community board too..again :wave ..welcome to cruise @ddicts..:)..Joanne.

IMy suggestions-Magens Bay in St. Thomas, in St. Martin you can do a little shopping at the tender pier and we swam at the beach right there. Someone said it wasn't clean but, it was very clean in 1999.

I have to agree with Godfrey Tours in St. Thomas. It's the best value for the dollar. He'll pick up your party at the ship at either 9-10-or 11, drop you in town for shopping until noon, tour the whole island, then you have the option to be dropped off and picked up two hours later at either Magans Bay or Coki Beach, if you want to do any water stuff. He will then take you back to the ship. I've toured with Godfrey on three previous sailings. By the way, myself, "She Who Has To Be Obeyed", and two teenage daughters are also sailing on the 27th.
To meet some other fellow travelers on the 27 sailing , go to
www.cruisecritic.com
Log into the Royal Caribbean Roll Call and search for the Explorer Sailing June 27.
There are a number of families in the forum. It's great to know some travelers prior to sailing.
Hope to meet you and your family at the Cruise Critic "Meet and Mingle" for the 27th sailing.
