Edgewater Hotel...Seattle..worth the $$

We will be in Seattle for one evening before ending our one week Alaskan cruise and one week stay in a cottage in Victoria (www.cottagevictoria.com).

Question: We have booked a room for our final night in Seattle before flying home and there are a LOT of options out there for us that are WAY under $200 a night.

I think I got a great price...a water front room for $230, but I'm still not convinced that it is worth the extra money.

I don't mind spending the money....I'd rather stay at a Hilton property and get my HHonor points, but I'm okay with staying at a nonHilton property, if it is really a nice treat.

Any thoughts?

there was a thread here a month back that talked about different hotels, including this one. Lots of people said it was great, but I had trouble spending that kind of money. We were originally booked in Hilton using free points, but reviews at www.flyertalk.com on the Hilton board convinced us the hotel was poor. We switched to priceline, and got a really nice room at the Westin for $96 per night. Much closer to places to WALK to. You can easily walk to Pike Place Market, bit longer walker to Space Needle park, though you can also take monorail there.

Good luck.

Dear CruiseGary:

I am a FREQUENT visitor/poster at flyertalk.com and that is exactly why I'm not staying at the Hilton also. Horrible, horrible, reviews.

Anyway, I will just keep my reservation and see if anything else comes up that is better. I have used priceline, but after being a Diamond member with Hilton and then having to stay in "priceline" rooms, it is kind of a drag.

Thanks for your reply.

There is a Homewood Suites near the Edgewater Hotel. Barely walking distance to anything but might be on the bus line. They do have parking right there. Drove by it, looks fairly new and you can use your points to stay there.

As to Priceline, have had really good luck when picking 4 star properties. In only one situation have I gone to 3 star, up near Gwinnett Mall in Atlanta gets you a decent property usually.

I lived is Seattle all my life..and l would not recommend spending so much for The Edgewater. The view is not worth it. Book a hotel downtown and you get a much better view as you will look down on Elliot Bay.
