We have classified the Elation as the most beautiful Carnival ship we have been on so far. We ,also have been "bumped " from the Ecstasy to the Elation in January. We are booked on the Elation in May, as well, for a 7-day vacation with the WHOLE family amd lots of friends! Our only dissapointment is that we won't get to see the Ecstasy, experience a new-to-us ship, and, of course, get another ship pin! Our last cruise on the Elation was more than 6 months ago, but it is a truly wonderful ship. We especially loved the decor - lots of bright colors, stained glass (Tiffany's resturaunt on the lido deck is all done up in stained glass peacocks!), and excellent art work. We found the food selections to be similar to our other Carnival experiences - which to us is quite top notch (DO NOT MISS the Gran Marnier souffle for dessert!) Our wait staff at dinner were very good, but they do not "stand out" in our memory. The pizza bar did not measure up to the Holiday, but was still pretty good. We had the most "Day at Sea" fun on the Elation - contests, games, relaxation, Reggae music. We missed a port (Belize) due to engine trouble, but the cruise director took us back to Cozumel, and brought on board a Mexican folk show that blew our socks off!
Over all, I think you will be pleased with the Elation. I am pretty sure the captain is the same one we had 2 years ago (a friend of mine loaned me his recent Elation travel log videotape, and I recognized the Captain), but I have no idea who the Cruise Director is.
Hope you have a great time! When are you going?? We might see you there!
