Has anyone sailed on the Elation recently, (Last 6 months or so)? We got bumped to the Elation from the Ectasy and most of the review I find are 6 months are older. Any information will be helpful.

We have classified the Elation as the most beautiful Carnival ship we have been on so far. We ,also have been "bumped " from the Ecstasy to the Elation in January. We are booked on the Elation in May, as well, for a 7-day vacation with the WHOLE family amd lots of friends! Our only dissapointment is that we won't get to see the Ecstasy, experience a new-to-us ship, and, of course, get another ship pin! Our last cruise on the Elation was more than 6 months ago, but it is a truly wonderful ship. We especially loved the decor - lots of bright colors, stained glass (Tiffany's resturaunt on the lido deck is all done up in stained glass peacocks!), and excellent art work. We found the food selections to be similar to our other Carnival experiences - which to us is quite top notch (DO NOT MISS the Gran Marnier souffle for dessert!) Our wait staff at dinner were very good, but they do not "stand out" in our memory. The pizza bar did not measure up to the Holiday, but was still pretty good. We had the most "Day at Sea" fun on the Elation - contests, games, relaxation, Reggae music. We missed a port (Belize) due to engine trouble, but the cruise director took us back to Cozumel, and brought on board a Mexican folk show that blew our socks off!
Over all, I think you will be pleased with the Elation. I am pretty sure the captain is the same one we had 2 years ago (a friend of mine loaned me his recent Elation travel log videotape, and I recognized the Captain), but I have no idea who the Cruise Director is.
Hope you have a great time! When are you going?? We might see you there!

Thanks so much for the information. We are sailing on the 25th of September, that is if Hurricane Rita doesn't mess it up for us. I had read so many conflicting reviews, (as always), that I wasn't sure if it would measure up to our last cruise or not. Doesn't look like we'll be together this cruise. Maybe another time. Thanks again

How was the Gulf in February? Was it rough? We are going out of Galveston at the end of January, and have wondered if winter is a "less desirable" time to go, motion-sickness-wise.

Saw your question re: the Gulf in January and just thot I'd tell you we sailed out of NOLA last January on the Sensation and it was great.... weather was wonderful, waters were calm. :) We are going out of Galveston on the Elation in December.... can't wait.

Did you mean the 24th? We are scheduled for this Sat, the 24th on the Elation, which was changed over from a 7 day that would have left the 25th. This is our third change in trying to go on this cruise, just got our third set of docs last week!
We too are watching Rita and it is not looking good. Looks like she may hit somewhere in Texas early Saturday morning. Not Good. I am in Texas and they are predicting it will affect us by Friday, so keep watching for updates on it. I can't believe this is happening again.

We sailed out of NOLA early Feb./ 2005... weather was nice the whole time...was a little rough last day of sailing but I think it was because they had pulled up the stabilizers. We did not get sick at all. It was nice to leave Missouri with 20 degree weather and find 80+ weather in cozumel.

Yes we are sailing the same day as you!!!!!!!!!! Great to find someone sailing the same day as we are. Maybe we can meet while on the ship? Are you sailing with a group, or your husband. It will be just DH and me this trip. Look forward to hearing from you

It is just the 2 of us, DH and me. I am really worried that we will even get to go with this storm brewing. We are in Texas and that is all the weatherman is talking about. The hurricane sites all have it pegged for the TX coast on Saturday morning at 110 MPH.
I'd be worried if I was on the cruise before ours too. They may not be able to get back on Saturday. I also hope they don't just shorten our cruise and just have it leave late, like Sun or Mon since we've already shortened ours by 2 days with this last change. Oh well we'll just have to wait and see.

Do you think if we called carnival directly they would have any information on it yet?

Probably not. They did not know about the 3 ships for relief until I called them on the 3rd and gave them the web address where it was posted. They said they are the last to know anything in the PVP dept.
