We were on the Elation for New Years 2011. I hate smoke and did not find it smokey at all. A large percentage of passengers seemed to be local to Alabama or states surrounding and there were many large groups. Hopefully you love Southerners (I am from SC )Elation is an older ship but we found it to have have high value for price paid. We enjoyed the trip but do not hold it to the standard of the newer megaships. Food was good, staff was pleasant, shore excursion desk was helpful, and actually the people at the concierge desk were the nicest we have experienced.
