embarkation in Ft Lauderdale

OK folks, just got back from an 8 day on the Liberty. What a ship and what a trip. More about that later. I have been a complainer about the way they board the ship in Ft Lauderdale. No more. We arrived at the port at 11:15 and we were eating lunch at 11:45. We had VIP boarding and yes they really do have it now in Port Everglades. From the time we unloaded our luggage parked the car and entered the terminal, it went great. No more complaints from me on this issue. They really out did themselves this time. They say the 3rd time is the charm. They are right.

Yes, we were also on the Liberty- with you! (remember my inflatable man)??

I thought the embarkation here was very disorganized. The line was outside the terminal (hot). Yes, we are from FLorida! 13th cruise with Carnival. VIP PLatinum. I asked the lady outside where the VIP line was and she disappeared. So then I asked again- they said stand in the line. I went around the line (following the signs to VIP) and figured it out on my on. Maybe they did not understand my ENGLISH?

Getting off the ship was no better. VIP had to wait for luggage toters- and stand in a little room with a mean lady who yelled at me for trying to find a bathroom. By the time I made it to the car- I was frazzled. 7 hours later - at home in north FLorida. I will take Tampa and Port Canaveral anyday over this port.

Now- ask me about the CRUISE!!! It was the best ever. Thanks!

Wow, two really opposite reviews on the same trip. I will explain our side a little better. We have always arrived early at the port. This time we waited awhile longer. When we turned the corner, no lines of cars no real large lines of people. We had our luggage unloaded in about 3 minutes with 2 porters help. they just seemed to be there, no hunting or hollering for help. (there where 4 adults in the car, and we had already been on 4 days of vacation at this point) We parked the car in the garage and walked to the building. My wife and I book cat 12 cabins so we had VIP, and the other couple has platinum VIP. We asked about VIP and where directed to the door that had the VIP sign. in we went and just followed the signs. When we got into the room with the chairs the lady there told us the VIP folks had left so we where to go in the regular way. We seen the line with VIPs spoke to another gentlemen, and he moved the rope out of the way so we could cross over. We waited in line for our sign and sail cards for about 2 minutes and that was it. the only problem we did encounter is that i must have looked pretty bad because the first camera for registering your photo for your sign and sail card, failed and they had to move me to the middle one and that one failed also the 3rd one had a couple of moments but it finally worked. Again on board in 30 minutes.

Getting off was again the best we have had from that port. We waited though. We did not use the self carry or VIP service, our Friends did and they to told of a back log. When we were called, after the VIPs, we went in went to our luggage, did have to hunt for a minute or two and out the door in about a total time of under 25 minutes. That is from cabin to car. What helped us is the self carry folks there where so many of them that there was hardly any luggage to sort thru in the warehouse.

I have always read about the folks that where on the same trip and they did not have delays and it seems it always happened to just us. Not this time it seems. LOL maybe Carnival will get the bugs worked out for folks the next time around. You had the blow up doll is that right? Our only claim to fame on this cruise was our grandson's class project, we had flat Stanly with us. We give this cruise a and terminal a 9.5 out of 10. The movies under the stars and the toned down decor made it the best ship so far and cruise. We only hope they retrofit the large screens to the other ships. that was the best time other than watching the lady with barely there clothes. Did you see the one I am speaking about? LOL

ohhh- you are talking about "Ms Kansas"? She packed all her stuff in my tote bag!!! That was really scary- and I spoke with security about her outfits. I have never seen such a site in all my cruises- and cannot believe she got away with what she did, ALL week long!

Good thing my inflatable man is insensitive- he might have been attacked by her. We had some good laughs also- because everyone seemed to just stare at her in disbelief....

Looking forward to the next cruise---- hope she aint there! :)
