Embarking

I've been reading the posts and have found them so helpful, so thank you to everyone! My fiance and I are going on our first cruise/honeymoon on the 8/29 Inside Passage on the Sapphire. I have a couple of questions that if anyone can answer, it you!

1. We arrive in Seattle Airport at 9:30 am. I'd love to go see the Space Needle. Will we have time? We have the transfers in our package, but after reading posts, I thought it may be better to take a cab to the terminal anyway. It looks to be about 20-30 minutes to the Needle from the Airport. I can't figure out how long from the Needle to the Terminal though.

2. I expect long lines for embarking/disembarking. What time would you recommend being at the terminal. My itinerary shows 4pm leaving Seattle. Would 1 or 2pm be okay?

3. We took the upgrade offered (we booked last November) from originally being on Baja B701 to Caribe 605 or close to it (wasn't changed yet on my itinerary). It looks to be more middle of the ship and my travel agent thought it was a good upgrade - more square footage too. Any comments would be helpful. We will have a great time exploring the ship, since this will be entirely new to us.

4. My guy is a huge fisherman, has anyone gone on any of the fishing shore excursions? I'd like him to go on one, for a once in a lifetime experience. They seem a little pricey, but if it's good, I'm sure it'll be worth it.

5. After hearing comments about shore excursions, I think we'll stick to the Princess sponsored ones. At the end of August, beginning of September, will whale watching be worth it? I hear they're harder to spot the later it gets in the year. Is a helicopter ride worth it? What have you done in Ketchikan, Skagway and Victoria?

Sorry for the length, I'm getting so excited! This is my reward for planning the wedding! Again, thank you for all the posts - I've enjoyed reading them and am happy to see some start showing for Sapphire. And am relieved to see better reviews than the Diamond got!

Just got back from Alaska on the Sapphire last week. If you are taking a cab from the airport, you will have time to stop at the space needle, but what will you do with the luggage? Maybe they will take it on the transfer ticket and then you are free to roam.
You have an excellent upgrade. The middle of the ship is great. We were in C301 towards the front and found we really got our excercise just going to the meals.
You will probably see a whale, although they were rather scarce, we only saw 3 spouts, 1 fluke and 1 tale, but put them all together and you have a whale.
When you leave Seattle, look for the jellyfish. I couldn't believe how many there were.
The helicopter ride to the glacier is worth the money, once in a life time. Also the horse drawn trolleys in Ketchikan and Victoria are wonderful, complete with lap robes.
Don't miss the White Pass Railroad, worth the trip. Juneau we went to the rain forest, ok but nothing like the tropics.
Sounds like your spouse like fishing, he would like the fishing or the salmon tours.
This trip goes by way too fast.
