Empress or Verandah

Good morning -- I am currently booked on the Valor in March and have booked one of the rooms on the Verandah level with the wraparound balcony. After looking on Carnival's website this weekend and reading some posts here, I have two concerns:

* The same room on the Empress level actually appears to be a little larger due to configuration.
* I have read posts here that if you are right below the Lido deck that we will get water on our deck from the crew hosing off the salt AND it may be noisy.

Experienced and knowledgeable cruisers -- your opinions? Thanks so much.

Sorry, I don't know about that, but I did once hear of something like that. It seems that when decks are cleaned and the wind is blowing, water will spray as it falls. The thing that Is OFTEN said about being below the lido deck is listening to the scraping of chairs above on the lido deck.

I'm sure that you will get some more answers here. However, if you feel up to it, you possibly could check past posts for the last 6 months or so. I know this subject has come up once or twice in the past year. (Of couse wait to see if you don't get any answers first).

Good luck

On the aft--you will get water on all the decks when they are hosing it off- Its done mostly in the wee hours of the morning and will dry quickyl. Just make sure you dry the chairs off before you sit down.
I dont know about the cabins being bigger on the lower decks. I believe its the way they are set to make them appear that way. Cabins on the aft on carnival are leveled off in steps. So the people above can look down and see your balcony. So the balconies on the Empress deck stick out a little further then the ones on top of it-- The cabins on the upper deck will be sticking out further fromt he empress deck. Cabins are all the same size.

serene56,
We have an aft balcony on the Carnival Triumph on the Verandah deck. Since the Lido deck (I think) is above us how will that effect our balcony. Will everyone be able to see into it? Also, is it true that on most ships the aft balconies are a little bigger?

The balconies on the aft are bigger then the ones on the side. I have sailed on the aft on the Victory and you will not be disappointed.

The lido deck will not affect your balconies. Its a glass like partition up there...no railing to hang over. Its the buffet that is over the balconies back there.

Please let us know how everything is/was when you get back. I am interested in the aft rooms and any vibrations from the lido deck (as was suggested by someone)

Thanks

hmm, cant imagine vibrations caused by the lido deck.. noise maybe. I didnt experience any vibrations from the Victory. - the Sensation we did. But on that ship I think the whole ship felt the shudders as we pulled out of ports. Victory we were on upper deck and I stressed for amny many months about being on top of that lounge. All stressed for nothing--we heard not a peep all week. Sailed on the a ft on the Voyager-- I prefer the aft balconies on Carnival. Although the ones on Royal are tons bigger.

We just got off the Valor on Sunday, We had an outside cabin on the Veranda Deck cabin 8300. We were right below the Lido deck. We experienced no noise. and some water on the patio in the early morning from them hosing the deck above. A lot smoother ride than in the aft portion of the ship where friends of ours had their cabin. Youu will love the Valor. Say hello to Paul in the Lindy Hop piano bar
