I called NCL to see about booking the Epic for next Thanksgiving.
I asked about fees for dining options for the circus dining and they did not know?
And if there was a fee to see the Blue Man Group, they did not know that either.
Have any of you found out any more info.I`d like to book but if the $$ to enjoy all thier
new features is high I may not book. Thanks Robin

If NCL doesn't know then it is not likely that anyone else will know either.

Robin,

I don't think prices for most of the extra charge venues have been determined yet. Give it about 2 or 3 more months.

Hi All;
I emailed my cruise consultant at NCL. She told me the person in charge of that on Epic is at her location this week. I will update as info is recieved from her.

Info I have recieved is that no charge for Blue Man Group but reservations will most likely be needed due to the number of passengers on board. Will be a charge for circus but probably similar to current upcharges for specialty restaurants.

Another update; There is another entertainment contract being signed to Epic. Don't know who but is supposed to be significant

I find this very interesting, does NCL charge for alot of extra?
Well, NCL doesn't charge for things that other cruise lines don't also charge for. However, NCL many more optional extra cost restaurants than most ships have restaurants period. Thus, the opportunity to pay extra for meals on NCL is greater than other ships. That said, you can still eat for free (okay - included) on NLC just as you can on other cruise lines.

Much new info since original post...
11/7/09 NCL made some major announcements (and confirmed others) re: entertainment and dining.
1. Blue Man Group---no additional charge
2. Howl at the Moon (dueling pianos) ---no additional charge
3. Legends in Concert (tribute acts, e.g. "Elvis impersonators") ---no additional charege
4. Cirgue Dreams & Dining ( think Cirque d' Soleil dinner theater)---@$15pp surcharge

Surcharges for specialty restaurants not yet set...expected w/in a few weeks.

People gripe about extra charges on NCL, but it seems to me that entertainment on Epic will be on a new level...and it's included in the base fare.

Never felt a need to pay extra for dining on NCL. We're booked for Nov 6 on the EPIC. We missed the Blue Man Group in Vegas, so looking forward to it. Bars

you know a lot of people never feel they need to pay extra and I think that is the way is should be; it is up to individuals. So many think you are expected to eat in the sur charge restaurants, I feel, if you are satisfied with the main dining rooms and a few other options, that is great. I happen to enjoy a couple of meals in sur charge dining rooms but no one should feel they need to do this.

Re: Epic info.--surcharges revealed

Most of the surcharges onboard the Epic have now been revealed.

They are very similar to those currently in place on other NCl ships, i.e., $25/Cagneys; $20/Le Bistro; $10/La Cuchinna. There are others, but I don't have them memorized. Capacity of Teppanyaki is being significantly expanded. Surcharge for Cirque, Dreams & Dinner is quite modest. I think it is $5 for a standard seat and $10 for a premiium seat. Would I prefer no surcharge? Sure. Do I think this charge seems reasonable for a unique cruise dining experience? Yes, I do.

Modest charges are OK, but when the ads tout all these fancy dining options and new entertainment venues, the fee should be mentioned then. It may influence booking decisions for some people.

I think for the dinner show it is a little more, could be wrong, but regardless the prices seem in line with what I would expect. As much as I am not crazy over the idea of these huge ships, I do want to sail the Epic just to see what she is like.
