We just returned from an eleven night Caribbean cruise (4/11) on the Equinox and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The ship is beautiful and crew go out of their way to provide service.
Just a few recommendations:
If you are going to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica DO take the banana plantation and train ride tour!
The train ride portion is almost an hour and a half and takes you through the rain forest and along the coast. There were less than 40 people on the tour and it felt as this was a private tour. They stopped along to way to give us the chance to take pictures and these stops were often unplanned ... for instance the engineer saw a family of monkeys and stopped the train.
Perhaps the best tour value we've experienced on any cruise. And ask if Minor will be your guide. He is intelligent, fun and never stops working. He even brings beer and soft drinks for the guests!
If you are an Elite Captain's Club member DO take advantage of the evening social from 5-7PM. Top shelf drinks and the staff provide personal service. They will remember your drink and there will never be an empty glass in front of you.
Jermaine provided my wife and I outstanding service. Make sure you spend some time talking to him. A college educated Brit with a great sense of humor. I'm sure Celebrity will recognize his talent and move him to guest activities. Could be your future cruise director.
If you want to try a Specialty Restaurant make it the Murano. The room is elegant; the menu choices are numerous and all courses were excellent. A steal for $35 and they offer wine by the glass ... as little as $8 per glass.
DO go to the glass blowing activity. It provides an interesting and informative show. Go in the evening under the stars with a cool breeze across the deck. Then go sit on the lawn and star gaze.
Lastly, DON'T hesitate to talk with guest services if you have a concern. We had two very minor situations that were quickly addressed and resolved. Outstanding guest services department.
Just a closing observation ... You can't please all the guests all the time. The morning breakfast buffet had every type of food imaginable. Yet one morning my wife overheard a guest complaining that they kept serving the same food every day! Can't begin to imagine what she thought could be added.
