Hey Everyone...

I know that excursions are rather expensive. Which ones are worth the money to go on? Also, if anyone knows of anything else to try during the ininary, please recommend.

Definitely Stingray City. Book through Captain Bryan (if you want a catamaran to get you there) or Captain Marvin (if you want to get there quickly in a fishing boat).

Don't waste your money on the Dolphin Swim or Dolphin Encounter. Not worth it, IMO. My son wasn't impressed either. Our friends couldn't even give away their free Dolphin Swim ticket. We were pretty disappointed with it.

Ocho Rios - Try using Peat Taylor as your tour guide. He has an independent co. that you can book ahead of time to do Dunn's River Falls, Fern Gully, shopping, etc.

Just did the western last feb and had a great time. Sting rays city is a must do in Grand Cayman. Do the all day tour with Capt. Marvin. It cost about the same as the half day on Princess and you get three snorkle stops, lunch at a great beach club, and the sting rays not to mention you are not on a boat with 70 other people. The day we went there where 15 and three crew members. We went with Capt. Marvin himself and his deck hand Eric, can't remember the girls name....she video taped everything
Cozumel , the dolphin swim I agree is a must do. We loved it, our girls loved it and my brother and his wife loved it.
Costa Maya is a day at the beach, not much to do there. We did the mountain bike and kayak tour but not really worth it.

Highly recommend Captain Marvin for snorkeling and swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. You can book the tour on-line at Captain Marvin's website and it is much less expensive than booking through Princess. He offers several options for the length of the tour.

Hi woodstockguy,

www.captainmarvins.com I used them the last time I was in Grand Cayman, it was great and a lot less expensive than the excursion through Princess. This was the first time I have ever snorkled and they were very patient, we had an unforgettable time.

I did this in Oct and HIGHLY recommend Soto's for Stingray City. Only cost $19 and even with the $20 tip I gave the crew, still much cheaper and BETTER than the ship's excursion. We made 3 stops: Barrier Reef; Coral Garden: and Stingray City. Only 20 people on the boat. They picked us up about 100 yards from the pier and dropped us back at the pier. Great crew and a videographer, if you want an underwater video. The crew has been feeding a shrak since it was a baby, so we got to see that up close.

It was a great trip!!!!
