I have not been to Montego Bay, but I have been to Ocho Rios three times.  An eight year old can easily climb the falls, and it is fun.  However, do it from Ocho Rios (right next door) and not from Montego Bay (halfway across the island) and do NOT do it from Montego Bay as an independent excursion. 


It is my understanding that the ride from Montego Bay to Dunns Rivers is a ninety minute white knuckle ride (from Ocho Rios it is only a few minutes and no narrow winding mountain roads are involved).  Then you have to make it back.  If you really want to do this, then do it from Ocho Rios or at least Falmouth - not from Montego Bay.  From Ocho Rios it would be okay as an independent excursion.  From Falmouth I would only do it as a ship sponsored tour.
