Okay, I am not sure how Labadee is set up. We are going with two boys, ages 10 and 13. Is there stuff there for them to do with out purchasing an excursion...I know they have the waterslide thing there, can the kids go on it without buying tickets for the adults? Is it on the main beach, or is it something we all have to go to? Can you rent waverunners when you get there, or do you have to purchase the excursion to use them ahead of time? They even list locker rentals under the list of excursions....do you really have to purchase that ahead of time? Has anyone done the snorkeling there?? How about the Castaway at Malfini Beach? I would imagine the kids would be bored to death there! Sorry with all the questions....I am feeling very overwhelmed trying to book all these excursions sight unseen. I guess I will just have to go back again a second time once I know what I am doing!! Thanks.

Cant help with malfani beach.

I dont know about the free use of the slide either.

But what I do know, which isnt much is Labadee is their private island. You can only book their tours. It is a beach day. If you want to book anything do it before you get on the ship as these things sell out quickly. It is a tender port. They will have free food and ice tea. Everything else you will have to buy.

Too many questions. So lets take this one step at a time. First the beach (its RCI's private beach) ...

Here is a map ...

I see part of my map got cut off - :X

Here is the beach with a map on it ...

And this is what a high flying bird (or low flying airplane) would see ...

Is there stuff there for them to do w/o purchasing an excursion. Yes. In fact, I would recommend that you don't purchase an excursion. However, there are a few toys that they might want to play with that does carry an extra cost. You can sign up in advance, or you can wait until you get there and then buy any extras you want. If you wait all you risk is that the whatever will be sold out.

Kids can go on the water slide w/o their parents ...

The water slide is # 31 on the map, just to the right of the Aqua Park (which is # 19 on the map).

Use of the Wave Runners is limited to follow the leader. You cannot go off on your own. I would assume that if there is room, you could sign up for the excursion when you get there.

I have not rented lockers (I've been there twice), so I cannot answer your locker question. However, again, I would assume that if there is a locker available, you can rent them.

Last time I was there (June 2007) some of our group did some snorkeling. As I recall they rated it as average.

Here are some more pictures ..

The zip line ...

The Aqua Park ...

Things that float ...

The beaches ...

Well, I hope this gives you some idea of what is there.

We have gone there several times with the kids. Last time we rented wave runners and rode double which was not that expensive for four. It was lots of fun. We rented as soon as we got to shore, but I would not chance that. It worked that day . . . Anyhow, my kids like to rent a floating mat and paddle around. The snorkeling there is average. Equipment is available for rental (on your ship's pass card) and I would not think you would have to arrange that in advance and could wing it if you wanted to go. We snorkeled the first time we went there, and it was good practice for our snorkeling/stingray city tour later in the week at Grand Cayman. Everyone was really comfortable and confident to see the really good snorkeling sites. We love Labadee--it is just a really laid back beach day. The waverunners are follow-the-leader. The waves were pretty big that day and suffice it to say my husband could not use his legs much for shock absorption with a 70 lb. child sitting behind him holding onto him. He got slammed around a bit. We girls on the other machine had better luck. You must be 18 to drive and have a valid driver's license. You view a safety operating instruction video first. We have never played in any of the toy areas or slides, sorry. My kids are thrilled just to be in the ocean and we economized on this.

We did Castaway at Malfini Beach three years ago, and for the price, next time Im going to pass and just hang out at the beach area where its free...the snorkeling at Malfini Beach was 'eh.....nothing to write home about....could probably see the same thing at the beach and it wont cost so much....I was a little disappointed. I'd rather explore labadee and hang there....

have a great time!!!

We have been to Labadee twice and absolutely love it! You will have a great time and lots to do for the day for both you and your kids. We didn't purchase any excursion or pay for the "water toys" and still have a lot of fun. If we had kids in your kid's age group though we probably would have paid for the use of the toys for the day. I can't remember the price. $25 for the day is what I want to say. Have a great time.
