We will be traveling soon On the Diamnond princess and are wondering if there are any excursions that are not to be missed. and any advice on taking excursions that are not through the cruise line?

I recommend Las Caletas while you are in Puerto Vallarta. We enjoyed everything about the excursion and plan on returning there when we visit PV on the Diamond in April. If you have specific questions about this excursion, ask away, or email me.

Our favorite Princess booked tour on the Mexican Rivera was the Maretias Islands snorkeling and kayaking in Puerto Vallarta. We completely enjoyed it. In Feb 2003 $65.00 each person. We had tons of time and fun on a cattamaran a great, albeit corney mc. We did not take any tours other than princess.
The advantage of Princess tours is we have made new found friends that have come to San Diego to visit us! Which is s a great benefit.

Yes, we booked through the cruise line. You can book direct through <http://www.vallarta-adventures.com/index.html> and save about $15 bucks each. I was uncomfortable with the cancellation policy, so we went with the onboard purchase. There were people from a hotel on the excursion with us, so they do have outside bookings on cruise ship days.
