1. I would say the the pools on the Mercury are not lap pools. 2. The exercise area is quite large with a great deal of equipment. I did hear some grumbling however that in the early morning it's tough to get a machine. The rest of the day there were plenty of machines available. 3. I noticed that there was a charge for Pilate (sp?) and yoga classes. I'm not sure if there were any free group type exercise classes.4. There is a small jogging track on the deck above the pool area. I don't remember how many they said it took but it would take quite a few laps to do 1 mile. When we were on her last August the golf simulator was broken but there is ping pong, basketball, volleyball that can be played. We've been on 5 cruises on different ships and lines and found the facilities and programs basically the same. I'm sure you won't have trouble exercising and playing sports. The Mercury is a beautiful ship and we'd sail her again without hesitation.
