Going on a family (12 adults) in April to the Eastern Carribean on the Golden Princess. We have sailed on other cruise lines but this is the first time on Golden so I have a few questions--any advice appreciated!! Has anyone brought liquor on board (in your ship through luggage)? What did you think of personal choice dining? We will be wanting to sit together for evening meals--are there tables for 12 or are they all smaller? We were told we couldn't have traditional dining so will be going for the personal dining. Any 'favorite' waiter you could recommend? I think the waiter can make the dining experience a wonderful one, if they interact with the passengers, (which our families LOVE to do!!). Also the women are anxious to 'shop jewelry' and I have seen some information that St. Martins is better for price than St. Thomas--any experience with that? Sure would appreciate any 'input' from former Golden passengers!!!! We have been planning this trip for 12 months (to co-ordinate the jobs, baby-sitters, etc.) so we are REALLY looking forward to making this a FUN, MEMORABLE vacation!!!

St Maarten typically better prices for everything in my opinion - great place to shop. As for dining, I know there are tables for 10 not sure about 12. I loved personal choice dining, because I could go at all different times depending on what we were doing. If you plan on dining fairly early (before 7:00) you usually have better luck not having to wait. I heard some large groups referring to making reservations daily, so you may want to check into that. You can talk to someone from the dining room following embarkation on the Promenade Deck outside Sabatinis to get more info. Hope this helps. You will have a wonderful time!!
