Hi there ... this is my first time here to this site and must say that I am learning just so very much ... thanks for all the great info ...

My parents are going on thier first cruise, Oct 19 on the Fantasy (I have yet to b e on a cruise, sigh) ... mom is feeling a bit selfconsious as she is a very large lady ... and has always thought that cruises were for those with money ...

Can you give me some insight that might help to ease her mind about the cruise ... also ... what things would you recommend for an older couple that have never been on a cruise before....

Thanks for your input ...

I have sailed on the Fantasy and had a great cruise. You will see people from all walks of life on the cruise, with most being very mainstream, middle class etc. Carnival has done a great job making cruising an affordable vacation that is defintely not only for the rich.

You will also see people of all shapes and sizes.

Each day a Cruise Compass will be delivered to the stateroom that outlines the next day's activities and their times/locations. So they can choose to do as much or as little as they like.

I am sure they will have a great time. Tell them not to worry. It's going to be great.

Now you should go and book yourself a cruise too! :cheers

I am looking to book in 2004 ... I am in school for nursing and just do not know when I will be able to work it into my schedule at this time ... I also work fulltime so that makes it a bit rough ... I am one of the oldest one in my class at 39 ... lol

Thanks for the reply ...

Oh I almost forgot, we boarded the Fantasy at around noon if I remember correctly and we were among the first few people to get onboard.

on embarkadation , if you get there earliest , you can sit in the first row of chairs which are like easy chairs and then they have two rows of just regular chairs so it pays to be early so you wont be coveting someone elses chair

and I wouldnt worry about your mom being a big person , the more you cruise , the bigger you get I think.. I am going to have to begin walking on my treadmill but I took today off ..

Cruising is great. If you post a question and state which ports your parents will visit and what they like to do, you'll get some suggestions and ideas.
