Next question:

Just wondering how many of you have had the privelage of dining in more than one of the premium alternate restaurants: Olympic, SS United States, Ocean Liners, and Normandie?

I believe the menu at any given time, and size/location of each is the same, so which was your favorite of the lot?

Tg,

I have not dined in all four, but have been in all by the Olympic. They are all very similar in service and atmosphere, and you already know that the menus are the same. Forced to choose, however, I'd pick Ocean Liners on Connie. Its interior decorator did a superb job in creating an intimate space.

Actually, while there are some items that are the same in each restaurant, each one has signature entrees associated with only that restaurant. I've only been in the SS United States so can't comment on the others, but if you troll the 'net, you can pull up the menus and see what I mean. You can get the goat cheese souflee in any, the rack of lamb, and chocolate souflee among other things in any of them, but you need to eat at the Normandie for the Chateubriand, or the United States for the Long Island duck, the Olympic for the Waldorf pudding, etc.

That's interesting about the entrees being in theme, regionally speaking, with the room. I've only been to United States so far. I really realy liked that room and my char had a view of the glass panels by the door. Could not take my eyes off them. I've seen pictures of the first class dining room on the namesake ship, and while you can't call the Infinity's space a " replica" it does convey a similar mood, I think.

I have dined in three of the specialty dining rooms. My preference is the Olympic. The beautiful antique panelling gives a glow and warmth that just isn't there in the other rooms. It is as much of a personal taste as some people loving white walls while others enjoy color painted or wallpapered rooms. They each bring an atmosphere.

As for food, I have a preference for the Ocean Liner on a recent Constellation cruise. Couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was...it was just prepared a wee bit better.
