Ferry to Trunk Bay

We are planning to go to Trunk Bay during our port day in St. Thomas.

I see that there is a ferry from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay and also one from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Is there an advantage to taking one over the other?

We are there from 8:00-6:00. Do we have enough time to make the 9:00 ferry from Charlotte Amalie?

Also, what time should we leave Trunk Bay to be sure we are back in time to board the ship?

Also, if we venture to Red Hook for the ferry, how long of a cab ride is it and how expensive?

It is quicker if you leave from Red Hook. It is about a 20 minute taxi ride from the cruise pier, actually our driver mad it in 15 minutes, so we could catch the next ferry. There is no problem doing this and making it mback to the ship on time, many posters on this board have done it many times.

Here is a link to the ferry schedule

If I remember right the ride from Red Hook to Cruz bay was 15 Min, and the one from Charlotte-Amelie to Cruz Bay is 45 Min. These figures are also on the above web in my earlier post.

The cab ride to Red Hook costs $8 per person, the ferry is $5 per person. The ferry from Charlotte Amalie is $7 per perso, but the cab ride is considerably less (and you can walk the 1.3 miles (from Havensight) in about 15 minutes if you are so inclined.
