Final day check-out and medical problem

Hello Cruisers,
I am planning to take my first cruise this year sometime in December. I am planning for a 3-4 nights cruise from Tampa, Jacksonville, Port Canaveral, or Mobile.

I have a medical problem due to which, every morning I need to use the bathroom facilities, frequently for about 2-4 hours. On the last day the check-out time is 7AM or 8AM, which is the biggest cause of my concern. I have heard it takes couple of hours or more to check-out, plus you have to vacate your room before 8AM.

1) From your past experience, can you tell me how long it takes to check-out and what time do we have to vacate the rooms?
2) Is it possible to request the crew or housekeeping manager, and request to allow us to be in the room till 10AM/11AM, or
3) Can they provide us any other private place in the ship during this check-out time. I have no issues being the last person to get off the ship.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Disembarkation isn't pleasant, but not as bad as you imagine.

Yes, it's true, they want you OUT of the cabin at the crack of dawn, especially on a short 3-4 day turnaround cruise. Your steward will not allow you to stay beyond what's posted. He/she needs to turn around those cabins in a few short hours.

Tell the front desk you want first embarkation due to your condition (but be prepared to verify your condition with a doctor's note, etc. - they've heard all the scams) and they will accomodate you.

When making your booking, advise them of your special need. They will do everything possible to accommodate you.

If you take me serious, it's your problem
I know no one really wants to do this but is it at all possible for you to get up an hour or two prior to checkout, and do what you need to do beforehand??
As others have said, check with the cruiseline and they most likely will bend over backwards to accomodate you. I've heard of cruiselines often going "above and beyond" in service when it come to accomodating those with medical limitations or specifications. So i don't think it should really be much of a problem. Just be certain to clear it with the cruiseline, and re-confirm your needs once you are aboard so the crew knows of your needs.

I have a medical problem of Irritable Bowel syndrome Diarehea. When I travel I don't eat anything or drink anything that will give me problems where I have to run to the bathrooms.
I am also in the habit of taking 2 emodium tablets in the mornings and not eat breakfast when I depart the ship.

If I had your problem I would call the Special needs assess dept. at 1-800-438-6744, for Carnival cruiseline. They are only open until 4 p.m. eastern time.

If you must eat something in the morning then have some pastries with some milk in your refrigerator and wake up at 5a.m. so you have plenty of time to use your cabin restroom.

If you give your cabin steward an extra tip he/she will most likely let you stay in your cabin while they clean the other cabins.
I have noticed cruisers getting off the ship until 11a.m.

They do have public restrooms where you can use it until you are finished.
I would highly recommend that you ask to use a wheel chair to get off the ship. People in wheel chairs pass up the long lines when getting off the ships.
I would also wear an adult "depends" if necessary and carry some extra clothes.

Where there is a will.... there is a way....
