First Cruise, Drink prices?

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I will be taking are first cruise together in late december. We both enjoying drinking and relaxing on our vacations, and I was wondering what the cost of drinks was going to run in general.

Can only one comment on this? Or ways to save money in general while on a cruise, drinking or not?

Being around the holidays I fear that our extra money will need to be stretched.

On the cruise you can buy the drink of the day in a neon plastic Carnival cup for $5.95 and refill it for around $3 the rest of cruise. I did this many, many times. Also if you go to the art auction on board they offer you free champagne and at the Captain's gala (dress up night) you usually get a few free drinks. Another way to save on drink money is to pack your own. You aren't suppose to bring it onboard but on my last cruise a lot of the people did and never got caught (I will be packing alcohol for my next cruise). But I would suggest at least buying one drink of the day and drinking it on the deck overlooking the ocean, you can't beat that feeling. Anyway, other ways to save are to bring your own camera and take lots of pics on board (so you won't be so tempted to splurge on all the professional pictures they take on board) and to wait until the last day of the cruise to buy your Carnival souvenirs.
