ok...i am 18 and this will be my first ever cruise! I'm going to Canada July 13-18, 2009 and i cant wait....

*My one of biggest interests are the pools... do they close early, are they always crowded... is there a good time to get in ( when there's hardly no one else in the pools). is there ample room to swim?

* ok i will have an inside cabin, wanted a balcony but the other people i am staying with don't want windows( say they are scared of something) if i wanted could i go to a public deck when ever i want and just relax there even at like at 3am?

* Did anyone ever have a cabin with 2 upper bunks, if so that means there are a total or 4 beds? were the bunks sturdy enough to hold an average sized adult and maybe a over average sized adult.

* are the shower's small?

* T.V quality.

* best place to hang out (i'm 18)?

* that's it for now! lol

Crowded?, on the sea days they tend to be crowded. On the port days, dead empty. Also fewer people in the early morning.
Room to swim? Not for a serious swimmer, I can get from end to end of the pool in three strokes, and I'm not a great swimmer. If you really want exercise, hit the gym. Cool off in the pool.

From the Capers from our cruise on the Miracle, last fall it says:
Swimming pools / whirlpools --
Forward & Midship Pools & Whirlpools: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Aft Pool (Adults ONLY) 8:00 am - 10:00pm
Aft Whirlpool (Adults ONLY open till midnight.)

Of course, you can go to any public area of the ship anytime you want. One of the most wonderful experiences on any ship is walking the open deck at night, and standing at the aft most railing, watching the wake. It's mesmerizing. (BTW your friends are strange. If they didn't want to PAY for the verandah cabin, that I would understand. But just not wanting windows ?!!? Weird.)

Very sturdy, but I have read that there is a weight limit of 250 pounds.

In a word: YES. If you find the shower too small, grab your gear and head over to the spa/fitness center, and use the showers there. Much larger and taller. Enjoy a few minutes in the saunas and steam rooms while you're there. (FREE)

* T.V quality.
Ah, that's variable. We've had excellent screen quality on some trips and really awfull on others. With no relation to the age of the ship. None of the TVs are very large either.

I'm the wrong person to answer that. Probably the disco. Perhaps some younger poster will help you out.

Hi Christa, you will be running around in your comfy clothes like jeans and t-shirts. Everything you want and need will be met beyond your expectations.
I promise you......you will have fun, fun, fun.

I once went to Alaska in July and I danced the whole night away. AT 3A.M. in the morning I was sitting outside on the top deck outside talking with three other gal friends and a crew worker looked at us and said we were crazy sitting outside in the cold.lol. We were cruising in Alaska and there we were with just lite jackets on. Unbelieveable.

When you see yellow tape on some decks.....that are closed off.... that means it is dangerous to go into that area. Sometimes some strong winds show up and it can blow you down. Or it means that painting and other types of work are being done.

It is against the rules to visit the crew men's quarters. They can get fired for inviting you to their quarters. It used to be okay in the old days but there are new rules now.

Eventhough you are only 18yrs.old.... it will be okay to drink alcohol drinks at the captains party. So just have one tasty fruity drink.

You will get to meet other singles in your age group to hang around with late at night at the Pizza Place and have fun talking all night. Lucy

I just got back from a cruise on the Triumph, ports: San Juan, St Thomas, & St Maarten, loved it!! Most fun I've ever had off my dirtbike!!! But if you're 18, a good place to hang out will be the Casino, Dance Club, and I don't really know what else lol, it kinda sucks that you cant drink even though you're in int'l waters.

All cruiselines have the virgin punch fruity drinks at the captain's parties. You can also order a coke. Some people don't drink alcohol drinks so just ask which don't have alcohol.

You will find the Pizza Place by taking the stairs going up from the Buffet area. There are always late night people to talk with.
They also have salads or sandwiches sometimes and some brownies too. Coffee and tea is always available in that area too.

It is also fun to watch the karaoke singers too at some lounge. I forgot the name.

Here are CCL's policies on a few topics which you brought up:
http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Age_Restrictions_on_Board.aspx

Are there any age restrictions on board?

Drinking alcoholic beverages:

Guest must be 21 years of age or older to be served alcohol on board. Proper I.D. with birth date is required.

Casino:

Guest must be 18 years of age or older to play the tables and the slot machines.

HERE'S A BIGGIE ! -
http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Age_Policy.aspx

Guests are required to be 21 years old (on embarkation day) to travel. Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied in the same stateroom by a parent or guardian 25 or older. The exceptions Carnival will make to this policy are:

Married minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple is married. The couple must have proof of marriage at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund.

Domestic Partners/Same-Sex Union minor couple - The booking must be documented that the couple are legal Domestic Partners/Same-Sex Union. The couple must have legal proof of partnership/union at embarkation or they will be denied boarding without the benefit of a refund.

Guest ages will be verified at embarkation. Guests not conforming to this policy will be denied boarding and assessed a 100% cancellation penalty. NO exceptions will be made at embarkation.

The Group policy is slightly different because of stricter group terms and conditions including mandatory chaperones, damage deposits and other considerations.

Please note that, if you are under 21, you must be accompanied, in the same stateroom, by a parent or guardian. 'Parent or Guardian' does not inlcude friends, classmates or buddies! I strongly suggest you call CCL and make sure you will be able to cruise if mommy, daddy or your legal guardian are not with you. And, get it in writing! I'd hate to have you guys get to the port, only to be denied boarding because of this requirement. You will not get a refund, as CCL will take the position that you did not meet the 'fine print' of the boarding contract.

And I don't care that you have 'heard of others who were underage and still sailed." That arguement will be considered urban legend and hearsay. CCL will fall back on the legal contract. Imagine thinking you got away with it and being half-way through the cruise when CCL finds out. You get thrown off the ship in some foreign country and YOYO (you're on your own)!

I don't think you will be doing much swimming on this cruise. The pools are filled with ocean water and the water temp average for that cruise at that time of year is most likely in the 60s. Canada is cold and the bay of fundy water is never swimable. At least thats what I have been reading. I am cruising Triumph on July 18 and I have been doing some research. You can always soak in the hot tub. none of Carnivals pools are heated.

Wait and see about the swimming. We sailed on the Victory to Halifax, first week of July a couple summers ago. It was too chilly to swim some of the time, but warmed up in the early afternoons, and we did swim.

thanks we2k9 and Gayle for the info about the weather being too chilly to swim. It also helps me know how to pack for the weather because i was figuring it would be kinda hot in July like it is where i live.

Awww, they're just spoil-sports! As long as the pool hasn't frozen over, you can still swim. You may turn blue and bob around like an ice cube, but ........... you can still swim. I won't, because (contrary to what SunFlower says) I do have a lick of common sense; but you certainly can, if you wish! I'll be the guy on the sidelines, laughing and pointing .....
