First Time Cruise Questions

Hi everyone,

I have a few silly questions since this is my first time going on a cruise that I was unsure about. I'm on a Carnival Triumph cruise leaving in two weeks! Needless to say, I'm extremely excited.

1. I know that shorts and tshirts aren't allowed in the dining room, but is this only during dinner time? Or breakfast and lunch too?

2. Would jeans be appropriate during dinner? I don't like over-packing.

3. Would taking a backpack for when you're in port be a good idea?

4. Are street maps for the ports we're stopping in available on the ship? Or maybe in close proximity after we get off the ship? My family and I were planning on just winging it in a couple of the ports.

I had a bunch of other questions that just aren't coming to mind right now, so any other tips or advice would be more than welcome. Thank you!

Now I remembered another question I had!

Any recommendations on good places to eat in St. Thomas, USVI; Nassau, Bahamas; and Half Moon Cay?

1. Yes this is only during dinner, but do not forget that they don't allow bathing attire such as swimsuits and bikini's in the dining room at breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

2. This is very controversial, during formal night absolutely not. On the other nights you could probably get away with it if it's stylish but you may get some frowns from fellow passengers.

3. That would be the best idea! You should definitely bring a backpack to store towels, a change of clothes, and bottles of water for when it gets really hot out.

4. Yes Carnival does a great job with delivering these to your staterooms the night before a port stop. If you didn't get one they are available at either the shopping info desk, the pursers desk, and are usually available at the gangway before you get off the ship at a port.

As far as eating goes, I can't comment because I always make it a point to get back to the ship to eat my food because it's all free there!

On Half Moon Cay, this is a private island and the staff from the ship will come off the ship and they will prepare a picnic type lunch on the island. You just walk back off the beach to a pavilion where they will have hamburgers, hot dogs, I believe chicken. but not for sure.

This was what I had for lunch.

This wood boat was filled with fresh fruit.

We rented one of the cabana's. With the price of the cabana you get fruit, snacks, pop and water for 4 people. You also get snorkel equipment and a float for each person. It was well worth the $200 ( I'm not 100% sure on that price, it may have been $250, we split it between 5 people) The cabana has AC and a shower.

You'll love HMC if you enjoy the beach.
