Hi. I've been reading the posts and gathering information. I have a few questions if anyone could help-
Okay, from what I've read, you can either pay an extra charge and eat in the specialty restaurants mentioned in the cruise book or eat buffet-style- correct? Is the resort casual clothes mentioned for the specialty restaurants, with more casual (jean-like) allowed in the buffet style dining rooms?
I just read a post about soda- Do I understand correctly that you pay for a sticker that lets you get soda wherever/whenever on the ship?
I've heard that the lines for getting on the ship at Seattle can be very long. Is there a recommended time to get there so the wait is minimized?
Any other ideas/suggestions for me?

Ok, this is how it works.

You can eat at no charge in either of the main dining rooms. This is sit down, ala carte, not buffet. You can also choose to eat in the buffet dining room, also at no charge. Or. you can reserve and dine in a specialty restaurant for a surcharge which differs from restaurant to restaurant.

Most people in the dining rooms tend to not wear jeans but I imagine you could. In the buffett, it is always very casual. For the specialty restaurants, I noted that most people considered it a special occasion and dressed accordingly.

Sounds like you like to be fairly casual so you made a good choice with NCL.

Yes, you can buy a soda card that can used for soft drinks throughout most of the ship.

A friend of mine just returned recently from the Sky to Alaska. He said he arrived at the pier around 12:30 and the lines were starting to get long. He said the shuttles from the airport seemed to be arriving close to 1:00 and than the lines grew.

He had the sticker for soda and said only one place questioned the sticker but he said you get a specialty mug when you get the sticker and that nobody questioned the mug for refills.

Can't add alot, but my recommendation is to get to the pier as early as possible, maybe about 11 or 11:30am and you should get on quickly: other option which makes me nervous is very late, like an hour prior to sailing. Most everyone will arrive between noon and 2pm. As for Dining rooms there will be 2 that are regular with no additional charge, plus the buffet. I do suggest you try at least one of the speciality dining establishments, worth the extra charge. Dress code may or may not be enforced but for your sake and that of your fellow cruisers repsect the policy. If you can't put on acceptable attire choose to eat at the buffets. Guess that should help a bit. Have a great cruise and let us all know how it went.

Oh, good to know. We are staying in Seattle overnight, near the pier, so planned on getting there at noon, since someone recommended that saying the lines start to grow when the airport shuttles file in. Even if our cabin is not quire ready, I want to walk around and see the ship. :)
