Re: First time either on a cruise or in a suite!

This message hit exactly the topic I was wondering about as my husband and I go on our first cruise.  We'll be staying in a sky suite.   I'd like to follow up on a couple of things.

First, just in general, the whole concept of a steward is so alien to me.  How many cabins is the bloke assigned to, and how do I find him if I do need some sort of assistance?

Second, it surprised me that someone mentioned that if I would want to eat in my room in the evening, I would need to tell the butler that in the AM.  I would picture that, a lot of the time, I wouldn't decide that until an hour or two before dinner.  Is that not possible?  (You know,:  "Do you want to go out to eat, or do you just want to stay in and watch a movie?")  Can I also get lunch in my room?

Finally, the mention about having a catered party in my room just blew my mind.  I guess I can't count the six of us going on the cruise together as a 'party', but I could see it as being fund to have my folks and sibs in for some games and having some stuff.  Since we're all Mercury cruise clients, I assume that I don't pay additional for this food, right?  Just remember when it's time to tip?

Preferring to do my 'faux pas' here vs. on the ship!!

Thanks!

Cheryl
