Hi all. I am going to be on the Majesty of the Seas in July, and it will be my first time in Nassau, and I have a couple of questions. We'll be in Nassau from 8am to midngiht, so I'm trying to decide what to do. We (husband and I) really just want to spend a qiuet relaxing day.
How does Cable Beach compare to Paradise Isaland?
a few people mentioned that they were able to get into the Dig at Atlantis after 5pm for free. Does anyone know if this is still true?
What are the Queen's stairs?
Is there any place where we can snorkel on our own, without booking an excursion?

Any advice is really appreciated

I have been to Paradise Island Beach three times and we really like this beach. If you just want some beach time just take a land taxi to the public entrance to Paradise Beach. The entrance is just above the Sheraton by about 100 yds. Bring your towels from the ship and there is some outside showers at the Sheraton beachside.

My mom was just in Nassau a few weeks ago and she also went to the public beach on Paradise Island and she mentioned that there are some rocks and soft sand to cross. My dad has difficulty walking, and my mom said that there was no way thathe could have made it onto the beach there.

Seems to me that Cable beach is free. Why not catch a taxi or jitny out there and relax for the day?

Most people on cruises who go to the beach on Paradise Island go to the Atlantis hotel. The last time that I was there, it cost $25 to use the beach if you were not registered in the hotel (they hand wrist bands).

I have also read about the underwater thing at the Atlantis being free after it gets dark, but I do not know from first hand knowledge. Every time that I was there it was during the day and they charged money. (A few years ago when the hotel just opened, the underwater thing was free, but that has ended at least 3 years ago).
