First Time on RCCL

Hello all - new to cruise addicts.

I have cruised before, mostly with Carnival and more recently Princess. My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary (2 years!) on the Brilliance of the Seas in March of 09 (Egypt and Mediterranean). Ports of call include Alexandria, Athens and Palermo.

My hubby knows Egypt well and we are ok with that port but are wondering what experienced cruisers recommend for Athens and Palermo. Should we go out on our own or book an excursion? Any recommendations on what we should make priority. This is not my first time in Europe but my first cruise to the area! Very excited to try a new cruise line - but a bit overwhelmed by all the planning!

Any suggestions are welcome and thanks in advance!

Ahoy Adri2202 and =welcome to Cruise @ddicts =sailor

Sorry I can't be specific about this itinerary but can give a general opinion. It sounds like you are pretty experienced travelers. Susan and I are seasoned crusiers and we always go out on our own. Even if we are doing an excursion we free wheel it because it is usually less crowded and less expensive too.

=funsign planning your cruise :)

We did a similar cruise this June (all but Palermo) Because we'd been to most of the ports before, we did most of the excursions on our own. Athens was especially easy. Another couple we dined with joined us with a cab tour ...... we saw all that was offered on the most extensive shipboard excursion for half the price. However - we are somewhat cautious when we go someplace for the first time (IE. Ephesus) and did a ship tour there. It probably depends about your adventurous spirit.

We love RCCL and have never had a bad cruise with them.
