For all of you RCL veterans, how does RCL stack up to some of the other lines? I have been on Holland, Carnival, and Celebrity. I have a transatlantic cruise booked on the Jewel for 4/15. We are in a "D" cabin on the 9th deck.

How does RCL stack up in terms of cabin size, entertainment, etc? Any hints or tips for someone new to this line?

I have sailed with Royal Caribbean 3 times now and it's amazing! I've never sailed with another line so I won't be able to compare lines. Royal Caribbean has something for everyone on their ships. I traveled with a group of over 14 and we were never bored!! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time! Make sure to attend the "Quest" adult game show. It's the most I've laughed in my life!!:lol

You will love the Jewel of the Seas. We have been on lots of RCCL cruises and the Radiance Class...of which the Jewel is one...is our favorite.

Their transatlantic is great. Just keep remembering to set your clocks ahead....this happens at least 6 times. We forgot once and missed an event we wanted to attend.

Have never been on Carnival, but have been on Princess and Holland America. Think the food is a little better on Holland, but aside from that they are just about the same. Royal Caribbean does have much better "perks" for repeaters

Ah yes, don't miss the Quest game...what a HOOT!

The cabin size on Royal Caribbean is slightly smaller than Carnival but not really that notiiceable.

The main take I have on Royal Caribbean is that the service is consistantly exellent and all of the staff very friendly and engaging, they really make you feel at home. I know you'll enjoy your experience on Royal Caribbean.

I agree with MBandy, the crew are wonderful on RCI.The gameshows are great and lots of fun with a group or just watching but it's more fun to play. Pretty similar to Princess IMHO and maybe a step down or so from Celebrity.

Just carry an extra bra in your pocket for Quest....it'll save some gyrations on your part! Much less interesting that way though.

I was actually one that gave up my bra at the Quest game. You can strategically take it off and put it back on in the middle of everyone. :D It was great fun, my husband ended up being one of many in the middle of the floor with his boxers on. Thank goodness we have it on video! Can anyone say blackmail??? We also love the Love and Marriage game, it's not to be missed. I can't believe I just admitted to all of that!

Cheating is allowed in Quest. lol. At least it's not against the rules. :lol

I think you selected an excellent ship for your first Royal Carribean experience. I've been cruising with them since 1990 and the Radiance class is by far my favorite.

Of the cruiselines you listed above, I've been on Holland Amercia and Carnival (and a few others). What you will find different compared to HAL is the number of activies, the staffing comes from different nationalities (versus the majority from pacific islands). The flexibility in dining. It's more relaxed. It's similar to Today's Carnival and a toned down Celebrity line.

I love the size of the Jewel. It's so easy to get from one end of the ship to the other. It has many of the same ammenites as the Voyager Class ships. I hope you will love it.
