hey all,

I'm going on the Sun Princess from Syd.

Just wondering if anyone has been to the following islands? I'm hoping to know what you can (other than what is available for booking through the ship) do there. i.e are there markets, bars pubs?

The reason I ask is because from what I can tell there isn't much other than nice relaxing beaches - which isn't a bad thing!

Cheers

Hi there!! I've been on the Sun as well and Love that ship. I've not been to the islands you are going to however, so no help there.

I hope you have a grand time on the Sun. Happy Cruising!! :spyglass:

Welcome to Cruise @ddicts. One of our members is an Aussie and might have visited some or all of the places you listed on one of their cruises. She's on the Forum sporadically these days, but I'll bring your post to her attention - perhaps she can comment.

I've cruised on Sun Princess and love that class of Princess/P&O ship.

The roaming Aussie
G'day dj_siek and welcome to cruise @ddicts. I haven't sailed on Sun Princess, but DH and I have sailed on Pacific Princess twice from Sydney to some of those destinations.

Isle of Pines is beautiful, we went for a walk, then a swim. The water is clear and warm, the beach nice clean, white sand.

Port Vila is very good for duty free shopping. Taxis (usually small vans) to the city centre. Lots of shops. There was also a market. And on the wharf next to our ship there were lots of stalls selling souvenirs, very cheap.

We found Noumea expensive and didn't buy anything there, except for 2 beers, $25. We walked around the town; there were some polynesian dancers performing near the market area. We also walked around the marina.
On our second visit we took a ship's tour; an informative 3 hour bus ride around the local area. We found that interesting.

I hope I was of some help. Have a WONDERFUL cruise!!!
