Sailing on Explorer of the Seas in August. Since this is our first cruise should we book excursions ahead of time or should we just play it by ear when we get to port?

Stopping in the following Ports

Belize - Thinking about Cave Tubing

Costa Maya- Thinking about doing this on our own

Cozumel - Booked the Booze Cruise

Grand Cayman - Thinking of doing Stingray City

I say book ahead if there is something you REALLY want to do. You can always cancel once on the ship....with a 24 hour notice. We always do this, then once we are on the ship we watch the TV promos for the excursions to see if we like ours or something better. The only drawback is paying in advance, but if you cancel it is a credit to you SeaPass/credit card.

The snorkel and stingray city tour with Capt. Marvins in Grand Cayman was wonderful. we had 12 in our group which made it easy to ask questions and get good instruction on how to handle the stingrays.

We purchased a video of the trip, just received it this week. it was great seeing the beauty of the island again.

I recommend the cave tubing in Belize with Reggie Trapp (regtour.com). Excellent tour and about $40 per person cheaper than the cruise line price. I also recommend Capt. Marvin's in Caymen (also much cheaper than the cruise line price).
