Is the water used on the Flowrider salt water from the ocean or chlorinated? Thanks.

I will almost guarentee it will be salt. I hate it, but every cruise line I know of except Princess uses salt water for pools. I could be wrong, but I would assume salt.

I believe other Flowriders are designed to handle saltwater. I checked the Flowrider website and the WaveLoch (Company that manufacturers Flowrider) and it does not say. The websites do have videos on how it works. So, as Scott said above, it is likely it will be saltwater.

You are asking a question about a ship that has not had any paying passengers yet.

Besides Princess, HAL also has fresh water pools.

Boy, that's going to be a lot of reverse osmosis water processing! :) I guess the real question for any surfer is will the Freedom's Flowrider allow persons to stand up or must they use the drop knee position or ride on their belly. Apparently, WaveLoch makes the purchaser (in this case Royal Caribbean) sign an agreement to allow stand up surfers. Hello liability!

I realize this post is old, but since then, my friends went on the Freedom and their sons used the FlowRider. They said the lines were long and it wasn't open all day, just certain hours like many of the other venues. They said they were able to stand up without a problem. Some chose to lay down on the boards (or couldn't get up), but they stood.

Looking forward to my DH & sons trying it. I wonder how close it is to real surfing?
