Fly Fishing

Hi! I will be going to Alaska in June (Holland America) and my husband wants to go fly-fishing. I found an excursion in the HAL book called Juneau Fly-Out Fly Fishing Adventure where we would take a float-plane to Tongass National Forest and fish for four hours. Has anyone done this one or have a suggestion for another one? This honestly doesn't appeal much to me (especially since I'm a vegetarian), but he really wants to do it so I'm game.

Hi Amy,

Wouldn't you know it, I am in the exact situation. I just booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas leaving July 31st out of Vancouver.

My husband wants to go fly fishing too and I just think it's the goofiest thing. All the cool excursions and he wants to stand in freezing cold water for 3.5 hours to catch a fish he can't eat! I don't get it. Anyway, to answer your question, it is supposed to be an awesome experience, I was told by someone who has been there and done it. The scenery is spectacular and it is personalized due to the small group bookings. Anyway, if you happend to be there when I am there, maybe we can suffer together. I was hoping to do a little night whale watching if the time permits too.

Lucie,

Thank you for your response. I'm happy to hear you've heard it is supposed to be nice. We are going on the Oosterdam (HAL) June 12-19, otherwise it would have been fun to have hooked up. Since I'll be going first, I'll post how it was upon my return.
