Hi to all.
After looking through all the forums I cannot find any discussion regarding food, perhaps you all don't eat and just make love when you are on a cruise!
Well this year is our 50th wedding anniversary and I am just 75, so I guess we eat!
Now we have been on the Queen Mary (1957) The Arcadia (1972) and 5 wonderful cruises with Princess lines, however last year on the Sun Princess we had the worst possible coffee there is (they have changed to concentrated liquid coffee in gallon cans) and although they say they only serve it in the Horizon Court, the Horizon Court is one of the best things about the ship! We and many ,many others use it for Breakfast, Morning coffee,Lunch and Afternoon coffee and cake! And just go to the Restaurant for Dinner!
Well my question is this, Does Carnival still use proper coffee (Coffee beans and a filter!) or have they gone to the unbearable coffee like Princess Lines?
Oh yes, I have heard of 5 people who like the new unbearable coffee, but of course I have also heard of some people who eat Cats!

Norman,
The coffee on the Conquest was ok. I don't think it's any of that instant stuff, however, I was never around when they made it or serviced the caraffe. They do have a cappuccino place that has some authentic coffee that is real good. I'm not really a coffee conniseur, but, I generally know that "fake" mess when I get it.

Norman (that's my name too)

The coffee on Victory is ground and roasted right at the coffee machine! It somehow grinds and roasts you a fresh cup of coffee?!? This is according to my husband who is a coffee snob. The coffee is always wonderful & always available. They also have the coffee & dessert cafe--but you have to pay for those specialty mixes. Have fun!!

I recall the coffee tasted REALLY GOOD all over on the Sensation, Elation, Victory (see my cruise history below), but not so great in the casual eatery this last year on the Spirit. I think it was a bit better in the formal dining room and in the supper club. They may well have changed to the liquid stuff you mentioned. Ugh :mad

If you like strong coffee like starbucks, you will need to pay for it at the coffee bar.

If you like weaker coffee, the free stuff isn't all that bad.

I love Carnivals food, The duck is awesome so is the lamb. I am not a coffee drinker so can't comment on that. I usually live by the sushi bars most of the time. Not much good sushi here in Missouri. Believe it or not the main reason I go on these cruises is I love the food, being single its nice not to eat my dinner out of a plastic tray that came out of a box in the freezer. The diving & single women aren't a bad draw either.
