Hi to all.
After looking through all the forums I cannot find any discussion regarding food, perhaps you all don't eat and just make love when you are on a cruise!
Well this year is our 50th wedding anniversary and I am just 75, so I guess we eat!
Now we have been on the Queen Mary (1957) The Arcadia (1972) and 5 wonderful cruises with Princess lines, however last year on the Sun Princess we had the worst possible coffee there is (they have changed to concentrated liquid coffee in gallon cans) and although they say they only serve it in the Horizon Court, the Horizon Court is one of the best things about the ship! We and many ,many others use it for Breakfast, Morning coffee,Lunch and Afternoon coffee and cake! And just go to the Restaurant for Dinner!
Well my question is this, Does Celebrity still use proper coffee (Coffee beans and a filter!) or have they gone to the unbearable coffee like Princess Lines?
Oh yes, I have heard of 5 people who like the new unbearable coffee, but of course I have also heard of some people who eat Cats!
Cheerio. Norman

Sorry, it's a concentrate except for the specialty shop, and you have to pay for that!

Don't dispair!!! On Celebrity the dining room coffee is still good--- just avoid the buffet coffee. :)

I thought that the last time we sailed. (JAN) that the coffee was a lot better than we had experienced in yrs past.

Don't despair, Norman. I can speak about Celebrity Summit when we were on her in April of this year and, at least in the buffet areas and Aqua Spa cafe, they use coffee that is ground from real beans. You can't see how they prepare the coffee used in the dining room but it tasted quite good and staff told us it was prepared the same way. So it appears that there is no concentrate, at least on this Celebrity ship!

I just sailed on the Century, and although I am not sure what they use, or how they make it, I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the coffee was on the ship!

Hi
We did Celebrity Zenith to Bermuda last month and I thought the coffee was good. The best place for the breakfast was the buffet and the only problem I had with it was that they put a large urn there if you are an early riser, and it got cool. However, there was another one in another part of the same buffet in the seating area and that was piping hot. The croissants and buns/muffins/pastries are to die for (but please don't die, lol).
I am a 2 cup of coffee per morning person, but I don't remember it tasting anything like instant. It tasted like what I was used to at home (Maxwell House). We only did the formal dining room once for breakfast and it was the morning after the tropical storm. Everyone looked ready to lose their breakfast. We were fine, but I don't rmember any bad coffee that morning either. Food on the Zenith was fabulous, and I'm told that the master chef for the whole line is French and the food should be uniform. We've only done this one cruise so I can't tell you how it compares to other lines.

We have sailed on celebrity for several years. Each year (except this year) I did not like the coffee at the buffet. I would go to the restaurant to get morning coffee, and then to the buffet for breakfast. Each year I would note in the evaluation at the end of the cruise that the buffet coffee was very bad. We sailed on the Summit last month ( October 20 - 31), and found the coffee in the buffet to be much better. I actually liked it. .

I guess it depends on which ship you sail. The m-class (big ships) have a machine at the buffets where you push a button and this coffee colored liquid pours into your cup. It is fair. The dining room has good coffee. I have not tried room service but maybe they have the real deal and you can keep it at your bedside while you are "making Love"
he he.

Our favorite is the Cova Cafe, although you pay for it, it is better than starbucks and they give you a delicious piece of hazelnut choc. with each cup! (I order the latte's) Treat yourself, it's your anniversary!

I am from Seattle so I think I am a decent judge of coffee.
