Hi to all.
After looking through all the forums I cannot find any discussion regarding food, perhaps you all don't eat and just make love when you are on a cruise!
Well this year is our 50th wedding anniversary and I am just 75, so I guess we eat!
Now we have been on the Queen Mary (1957) The Arcadia (1972) and 5 wonderful cruises with Princess lines, however last year on the Sun Princess we had the worst possible coffee there is (they have changed to concentrated liquid coffee in gallon cans) and although they say they only serve it in the Horizon Court, the Horizon Court is one of the best things about the ship! We and many ,many others use it for Breakfast, Morning coffee,Lunch and Afternoon coffee and cake! And just go to the Restaurant for Dinner!
Well my question is this, Does Norwegian Cruise Line still use proper coffee (Coffee beans and a filter!) or have they gone to the unbearable coffee like Princess Lines?
Oh yes, I have heard of 5 people who like the new unbearable coffee, but of course I have also heard of some people who eat Cats!

Sorry to confirm your fears but the coffee is made from a mix. Even inJava cafe where you pay for coffee, it comes from a premix machine.

Just back from the SUn and ran off at each port directly to a coffee house to get my fix.

I didn't think it was 1/2 bad, the best in the world no, but certainly drinkable. I have had much worse in many restaurants. The rest of the food is quite tastey, especially the alternative dining rooms. Enjoy your cruise, happy 50th. We have 5 to go, we eat alot also!!! Ha ha

Hi Norman

Because I too am picky about my coffee, I bring my 4cup pot with me and my own brand of coffee where ever I travel. This way I get to have my first cup while getting dressed for breakfast. It works for me. Good Luck to you and your wife on your 50th. Linda

Norman,

I'm a light coffee drinker, but I noticed a strong difference in quality of coffee between restaurants on the Norwegian Dawn, which we just got off Sunday 9/21...

In their specialty Italian restaurant it was divine, and in the Aqua restaurant, it was ok, but in the Venetian it was horrible, bitter, and burnt-tasting on two nights.

I did notice in our cabin there was a tiny coffee maker, although they only provided tea and sanka on the little tray - I'd imagine someone who packed their own coffee and filters could improvise, lol...

Good luck,

Love

Norman, as I have said before: it's not Starbucks, but I have had worse. By the way, how much does the quality of the coffee have to do with what ship you cruise? I have noticed you have asked this question on other lines as well. I guess, as much as I like my morning fix it would never dawn on me to judge a cruise in anyway by the coffee.

My husband is very fussy about his coffee. At home we grind Columbian beans fresh for each pot and use the filter drip method.
Not to worry. On all three of our cruises the mornng coffee was just fine and we were able to get cappucino in the dining room with our meals without a problem and at no extra charge.
