We are on the Grand in the fall of this year and just got upgraded to the Lido deck #304. I am really concerned because that seems to be where all the action is. How loud is it? Pros/Cons?
Thanks All......

Nice to be on the Lido Deck but if I were being upgraded to this room I would not call it an upgrade. You will have lots of foot traffic and noise from morning to night. This is one of the heavier traveled areas because this cabin is next to the main elevators that carry passengers from Decks 5 to 14 at the front of the ship. Everybody forward will use these elevators and the walkway in front of your cabin (Port Side) or the walkway on the other side to get to the pools, activities and of course, the buffet. I would bail out of this room if I could.

Actually, the cabins on the Lido deck are near the front elevators on the Grand, not the mid-ship elevators. They do not get as much action as the mid-ship or rear elevators (due to Horizon Court/Skywalkers, etc being aft). Only people who actually have cabins in the forward section of the ship are likely to use these elvators. That being said, you will have a bit of traffic. But, I've never heard anybody in the Grand Suite (which is adjacent to your cabin) complain about this, so I don't think you'll find that a problem. Also remember that the Fun Zone is right above your cabin, so it may not be quiet in mid-day.

My sister was in L254 on our first cruise. I found it very incovenient to have to walk the entire length of the ship, through the pool areas, to get to Horizon Court. I almost slipped a few times on the slippery deck. When it's crowded it's a pain in the butt. But, many people love this location due to it's close proximity to the pools. We really don't do the pools, so this wasn't important to us.

I would not consider it an upgrade if you already had a balcony cabin (BC or BB) on Caribe (since the balconies are larger). I'm not sure why the balconies on Lido are BA as their forward position and being on the highest deck with cabins, I would think would make them less desirable.

Actually, you have been upgraded to a wonderful room!! ( It does sound like you were booked in a standard outside cabin.) We were in Lido 304 on on our Grand Princess cruise in September.

On the Grand Princess these cabins are totally separated from the main companion way by a small hall that only the people in 4 cabins use! (Be sure you are looking at a deck plan of the Grand and not the Golden...they are different!) It was wonderfully quiet our whole trip!

The cabin is a little larger than a standard outside cabin because the square footage includes the space that would have been used for a balcony. Now we come to the no balcony issue!! :grin In this cabin you hardly need one! It is only a few steps and you are outside on the Lido deck! The window of this cabin is floor to ceiling and affords wonderful views. You can look straight down and see the ocean or you can gaze into the distance as far as the eye can see!!

I would go back in to one of these cabins in a heartbeat....perhaps even choosing it over a balcony cabin for the extra room. It is a quiet location, has that enormous window, and is close to all the action! I think these cabins are the best kept secret on the ship! I think you will absolutely love it!

I won't debate these other two posts but just want to clarify:

1. We stayed in L256 and it was noisy at times from loud voices and slamming doors but will acknowledge we were on the ship in the middle of the summer (lots of kids).

2. Peabody implies that I stated the cabin is near the mid-ship elevators and not the forward elevators which implies that I don't know what I am talking about. That person didn't read my post correctly because I did state the forward elevators.

3. Just because the Grand Suite is located on the Lido deck does not mean there have not been problems with this location. Having sailed on all the grand class ships (except Carribean), Princess doesn't change something without reason. Check the layouts of the grand class ships constructed after the Grand (Golden, Star, Caribbean, Diamond and Sapphire) and you will find the grand suite has been relocated to the back end of the ship on Baja deck except for the Carribean Princess (located on Aloha Deck, Aft).

Hi snowblower!! Having looked once again at the deck plan of theGrand I can see where your cabin might have been noisy at times. It is right at the elevator hallway. Cabins 304,306 and 308 are separated from the main companionway by another hallway. I think that is why we did not notice any noise. When we would exit from our "private hallway" there were often people walking up and down, chatting etc. We never noticed any noise at all while in our cabin.

I would like to ask if you thought the shower in your cabin was very small??? We found ours to be quite roomy in comparison to some other cabins we have occupied on Princess. Cabins 304,306,308 are considered deluxe outside and have more room than standard outside or standard balcony cabins on the Grand as well as that marvelous floor to ceiling window!!

I'm with Beryl on this .:lol....this is our third cruise where we have hand picked..requested a room on Lido..for our back to back on Golden Princess in February..we got a Mini suite in 2003 on Coral..right near elevators..so quiet on Aloha..it was the top floor for rooms.....our 2001 Ocean Princess we were on the floors nearest the pools..same thing ..less room ,people and quiet..so we did it again for our next one..course we cruise the first 2 weeks of February and the most kids I've ever had on the ship was 27 kids.out of better than 2000 passengers.hehehe..that's almost no kids..:)......It's Valentines week and 90% couples..;)..so we pick that week on purpose..:grin..if I lose the gamble third time around on the Lido picking I figure it was a fluke..=shrug..we love being there..I cannot wait to be in my L259 balcony room for two weeks..:grin...:)..Joanne

Snowblower - Sorry for the mistake about the elevators. I caught the "main", but not the rest.

As I said, my main issue, if you aren't really interested in the activities on the Lido deck, as that in order to get back to Horizon Court, you have to traverse a lot of pedestrian traffic through the pool areas. So, with that in mind, if you love the pool activities, you will probably love the location of the cabin. It's convenient to the Princess Theater, the casino and shops.

For me, since I nearly slipped several times on water from the pool walking back to Horizon Court and had to sometimes push my way through the crowd to get there, I don't think I'd want a cabin there.
