Hi Zia! I see you were among the very first passengers on the new Diamond Princess. I wondered if you had considered writing a review and posting it at this site in the review section. There are a few of us who will be sailing on this ship and are eager for every tidbit of information we can get. We also have a Photo Gallery section and pictures are always more than welcome :grin

Some of the things I would like to know.....

What type of cabin did you have and could you describe your feelings about it.
How was the food and service?
Did you do traditional or PC dining. If PC which of the dining rooms was your favourite?
Did you enjoy the entertainment?
Which was your favourite public room and why?
This was a Mexican Riviera cruise. What, if any, excursions did you take?
Which was your favourite port of call?

It would be wonderful if you would share any thing special that stands out in your memory. It's a long wait 'til my next cruise. Thanks

Hi Beryl,

Actually I have thought about writing a review. My "friend" (I can't bring myself to say boyfriend when I'm in my early 50's) had a high end digital Nikon and took about 500 pictures which I have on CD's. I'll quickly address your questions - and give more info later. I'm getting ready to go out to dinner.

*****What type of cabin did you have and could you describe your feelings about it.

We had a partially obstructed view stateroom. It was wonderful! The view wasn't really obstructed - we could just see the "man overboard" boat. Emerald deck - right in the middle of the ship. I don't think I would ever book a balcony even though folks swear by them. I'd rather save the money for another cruise!

*****How was the food and service?

Excellent - except for the Pacific Moon if you eat from their menu. I'll give more details later.

*****Did you do traditional or PC dining. If PC which of the dining rooms was your favourite?

Personal choice. We were always seated at a table for two. (Actually a long booth with a chair on the other side.) There were always friendly people on either side to talk with - and we did!

*****Did you enjoy the entertainment?

Yes, I'll tell more later. Marty Allen was onboard! The only disappoint was a comedian called Sarge who used a couple of racial slurs, some extremely bad language at the early show (Hey, I work in the education field!), and wasn't really that funny. We saw three comedy acts, the "Princess show", and a couple of singers.

*****Which was your favourite public room and why?

Well, I won big time at the casino - LOL. It's hard to say, the Wheel House bar was beautiful and also a more accessible bar called "Tee Many Martoonies" with every martini you could possibly imagine. (The prices were great at $4.25 - $4.95.)

*****This was a Mexican Riviera cruise. What, if any, excursions did you take?

None - I'm a "fly by the seat of your pants" kind of traveler. The spa treatments are wonderful but expensive so I had a facial and partial massage for about $35.00 in Puerto Vallarta.

*****Which was your favourite port of call?

Puerto Vallarta - hands down. It was the most beautiful, but also very humid.

I'll write more later.....
