we'll be leaving for a european cruise this sunday and have a question about exchanging money on the ship. Will we get a better exchange rate on or off the ship? Also will the ship allow us to exchange our money at all? thanks in advance for all the advice! ;)

I belive you get much better rate if You go to a exchange in the port of call.

Best rates will almost always be through using an ATM. We used them all over and it was very easy & safe.

Before you leave, call your credit card companies and find out which one charges the least amount for the currency conversion. My Target Visa only charges 1%; whereas CitiGroup charges 3%. You may have to ask a few of the reps. before you get the right answer, as many don't know what in the heck a conversion rate is! =eek

Also, make sure your ATM card only has 4 digits, preferably numbers. Most ATMS in Europe will not allow 6 digit passwords and many don't have the letters by the numbers on the keypad.

Enjoy! :)
