OK-first cruise upcoming. My cruising mate asked me if we need a jacket and tie for dinner each night. We are both in our late twenties and would certainly like to avoid any fashion missteps in front the single female cruisers. Since, I din't know the anwer to his question, I'll pass it along. Will I need to bring jacket and tie for dinner nightly? What is the standard situation?

Thanks for you help.

Not every night - no. For the formal nights yes. Other nights, on Carnival, most are dressed casually. However, if trying to avoid fashion "missteps" then don't wear jeans in the dining room at night. Some people think that jeans in the dining room at night shows very poor taste.

On the non formal nights, you will look fine in khakis and a tucked in Polo shirt with dress socks and dress shoes!

Yes, other than formal night - khakis, Dockers, casual slacks, golf-type shirts, or open collared Oxford shirt would be fine.
