Formal Wear for Pregnant Ladies on Mercury

Hello!

I will be taking my first 'pregnant' cruise. I've been on others, and I've never really noticed if there were pregnant women or what they were wearing.

There is not much in the way of formal wear for pregnant women. I don't want to spend $100's of dollars on things I will wear once.

Do you all think that nice pantsuits and/or skirts (if I can still get into them) will do ok? I've found some nice pantsuits in maternity wear. I also found a nice black dress, but it is more 'cocktail' style than formal.

I've seen people wear a lot worse actually, but I always like to dress appropriate to whatever the dress codes is for the evening.

Thanks for the input!

Cocktail dress will be fine. Anything can be dressed up with nice piece of jewerly or even costume jewelry if need be. Don't worry about.

I think a cocktail dress is perfect. Otherwise pick something simple in black and you'll be fine. Many years ago when I was pregnant, I had a dressy party to go to - I borrowed a dress from a friend - who wants to spend money on a dress you're not going to wear again? For my sister-in-laws wedding I was able to find a dress that wasn't a maternity dress, but was loose, and layered - it was perfect.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

I do have some nice jewelry to 'perk' things up!

Renee:

We are leaving in 9 days for a cruise on the Millenium, taking our 20 month old & I am almost 6 months pregnant. I had NO summer maternity clothes, since both my kids birthdays are in March (one day apart!)...I shopped eBay!

Found some of the most spectacular formal dresses for cheap, cheap, cheap. This is the PERFECT time of year to find this kind of apparel, since the holidays are fast approaching. I got a silk sleeveless irridescent purple top & short skirt for $25....the gal paid $300 for it new!

I also got a long black Motherhood gown, in a jersey-type knit, very stylish, for under $20. It was about $45 new. I hate buying maternity clothes, esp full price, since you wont wear them long, so I adore ebay!!

Thanks for the info. I did hit ebay and got some great stuff. I now have about 3 times as much as I had my first pregnancy and paid about 1/2 as much!!

Have a great time on your cruise!
