FotS, Oct 10th, Orlando to Port Canaveral?

We are getting married on the 9th of October in SC. Originially our plan was to go to my country of birth for our Honeymoon (South Africa.) however, it is just too dangerous and expensive right now.

So we changed to a Caribbean cruise of 7 nights. This will be our first Cruise. RCI has one leaving port Canveral, fl on the 10th. Which means that we need to fly down that sunday morning. The closest airport is Orlando. 40 miles away.

How do we get to the ship? Do we need to rent a car for a whole week only to use it twice for a total of 80 miles? Is there a shuttle service? Wishing the freedom was out of Miami so that we could just fly into town and take a bus or taxi to the port...

Tickets are not booked yet, due to this issue.

-Thanks Ahead,

Luke

You have a few options ...

1) You can rent a car and turn it in the same day. There are several rental agencies just south of the port in Cocoa Beach (Hertz and Avis are two that I know of - there are at least four). They offer a free shuttle to the port and back. Then rent another car upon your return and turn it in when you arrive back at the airport. This is what I did when I sailed out of Port Canaveral in 2006.

2) Use Royal Caribbean's transfer service.

3) Hire a shuttle. One that gets lots of good reviews is Art's Shuttle ...

4) Rent a car one way to get to the port and use the Royal Caribbean's transfer service to return to the airport.

5) Hire a shuttle to get to the port and use Royal Caribbean's shuttle service to return to the airport. This is what I did in Galveston, Texas.

Just make sure that if you rent a car, that the car rental company has a location near the port (Cocoa Beach) and that they allow one way rentals.

Unfortunately your link does not work.
and googling says that it no longer exists after changing hands a few times and over charging people.

what is the Transfer service?
checked their faq, this seems like a viable option, and the one that seems to meet our needs, only if they pick up after our flight. Heres to hoping.

You can get shuttle service through royal caribbean. You can add that during your booking of your reservation. You can also call to have it set up too. It's pretty painless. I'm assuming you can get other shuttles not through RC but I'll let other comment on those.

Edit: well someone already has replied. :-D

Well the link is working for me, and I am on a different computer than when I posted the link. What browser are you using?

However, apparently Art's Shuttle is no longer in business. The home page provides links to other shuttle services.

Royal Caribbean offers an airport to cruise port transfer. It may only be an option for cruise air passengers (I don't know, I never use the service). Royal Caribbean also offers a transfer service from the cruise port back to the airport. This is sold as a shore excursion for the day the ship returns to Port Canaveral.

That one I can answer. As someone who booked air travel not through RC this past November, or for this coming May, you can still purchase airport tranfers through Royal Caribbean.

So I am very much looking into doing one of the two cruises on Freedom in November now. This websites name truly fits me when it comes to cruises.
