Freedom of the Seas - Food and Beverage Costs

I've been on RCCL 3x before, but I understand they've started charging for many meals and beverages that they hadn't in the past. I know Chop's and Portofino cost add'l. Does anyone know - Is Jade or Sorrento's restaurant free? And are lemonade and ice tea are no longer free? Someone said they are in the dining room, but no where else. If so, how much are they charging per drink? Just trying to figure out the details so my group can figure out if it is worth buysing the all you can drink card. And there used to be a soft serve icecream machine on some of the boats - called Sprinkles I think. Is that still there for free? Or did the Ben and Jerry's ice cream take over? How much do they charge for icecream?

I'd appreciate any details you can provide, I've got a group of 16 going and none of them, except myself, have cruised before. Just trying to make sure all bases are covered so that they all have a great time and don't feel they got jipped.

They are charging for the specialty restaurants - many feel that it is worth it, some don't. Read the boards to see what folks are saying. The ice tea and lemonade are free throughout the ship - not just in the dining room. The soft serve ice cream and sprinkles are still free. The only thing the drink cards get you are soft drinks.

I hope that helps.

Jade is in part of the Windjammer area and is completely free. Sorrento's is also free, we stopped in many times on our Freedom cruise!!! I don't know about the lemonade but the iced tea is free. The Sprinkles ice cream machines are located on the promenade deck and by the pools. They are free as well. You do still have to pay for Ben and Jerry's if you want it. Have a great cruise and enjoy!!

Thanks! That helps a lot! I've got 15 new cruisers, and I'm trying to give them accurate info. Guess a lot has changed since my last cruise - 2 years ago.

If you can think of any new info or tips that will help -please let me know. Also worried about the lines for the flow rider due to the size of the ship. Was that a problem for either of you?

There were no major lines for the flowrider which was very surprising to us. There were people there most of the time, it stayed busy but never a big line, I'd say maybe about 10 people at any given time. Everyone took their turn and rotated very quickly. There is to lines going, someone at each side of the "wave" We were all dissapointed that we didn't try it so now we have to take another cruise aboard Freedom so we can give it a try. Darn!
