Hi Cacky

I hope we get more chance to chat on this cruise :)

This time...my son Alex has his best friend coming along with him...so I am rooming with Donna.

We have two inside cabins this time...we normally have PR's but hey we dont care...we will be on the Freedom...so we are happy.....oh and we are on deck 9.

Not planning to do the Horse Race this time...I want to relax on this cruise.

Chat soon I hope...and see you in Nov.

Oh by the way....are you staying in Miami pre cruise...if so...any ideas on where you will be staying?
I am thinking of the Holiday Inn across from Bayside this time...the boys will be eager to go to the Hard Rock cafe there....although Alex and I have been before ....his friend Dean hasnt been to the US before....and I think he will enjoy Bayside.

Take Care
Liz

Hello Liz,

I replied to your post last week, but when I looked this week, it didn't "take". Anyway, we are booked on the promenade deck, Room # PR 7329. We stayed in a promenade room on the Adventure of the Seas in 2002 and enjoyed the view. We are also booked for late seating. We are going to the Greek Isles on the Brilliance of the Seas in May. I don't now if we are going to be able to arford a pre-cruise on the Freedom or not.

We had an ice storm here last week here in northeast Georgia. We were out of power for 36 hours. It was 47 degrees in our house when the electricity came back on.

I hope everyone has a Merry Chrstmas (the reason for the season is Jesus!)

Hi Cacky

How you doing? Happy New Year to you and your family.

The Brilliance is one of my parents favourite ships...they liked it better than the Jewel for some reason and it is the sister ship.

The Med is a great cruise...I would love to do it again...although we did it on the Splendour,if we were to do the Med again..it would have to be the Brilliance :)

We are doing Alaska in 07...so only one cruise this year for us....the airfares are what stops us cruising more.

Hope we can keep in touch...it will be nice to see familiar faces on the Freedom....did you meet Bunti on the Mariner?....well she was one of the reasons we picked this sailing..so we can meet up again...and although she is from Alaska...she is coming with us on the Alsaska one also :) :)

Take care and see you later this year.

Hello Liz,

I don't know if I met Bunti or not. What was her real name? I only got to meet a few people from the group.

When you went to the Med, did you go to Santorini and Mykonos? We are trying to decide what to do there. We have booked the shore excursion in Florence that goes to the Accademia Museum. I want to see the statue of David.

We are looking at doing the Mt. Vesuvius/Pompeii hike as well.

RCCL website has posted some excursions for this cruise, but not all of them yet. They haven't posted any for Ephesus in Turkey yet.

What about Rome and Athens? We will be in Rome on Sunday, so we won't get to to to the CIstine Chapel. Any suggestions on what to do there?

Thanks.

Hi Catherine

Sorry cant help you with excursions......we didnt do many...infact we didnt do any booked ones...we got off the ship at VilleFranche...just for look around......we had been to Nice etc on land holiday before we discovered cruising...and although we love the area...we didnt venture out.......I guess because we live in Europe....we didnt go in for doing the big excursions etc.
I know that our tablemates...all from the US all did big excursions in all the ports....and came back very tired but they loved their days out.
We didnt have the places you mentioned.......well we had Florence...but on that stop we got a taxi with some others from the ship and headed into Pisa for the day.
But although our ship did have the Rome stop...we didnt go there. This was our first cruise...and to be honest the heat that summer was just tooooo much for us.

If you do go into Rome....be very very careful with your purse/wallet etc......the pickpockets there are really bad.

With Cittavecchia (sp) I just went for a wee walk around and back onto the ship.
With Naples we went for very short walk to buy postcard and again back onto the ship.

Sorry cant be any help.

Have you made any decisions on your excursions for this Freedom cruise yet.?
I seem to spend my online time going round looking at air fares and hotels for Miami.

Back to it again.

Liz

Hi,

We're a group of 54 family members & friends who are also on this sailing....we booked this is July of 2005, and I can't believe we're only 17 days away! We did our first family & friends cruise (30 on that one) on the Navigator in 2004, and everyone, especially our grandkids, loved it. If you're on board and see someone with a tee shirt that says "K3 the Sequel" that's our group!

Happy Sailing!!!!
