Ft Lauderdale Hotels

Anyone have any good ideas for hotels in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area. I stayed in South Beach in Aug. and would like to try Ft Lauderdale. Something on the beach and near nightly activities. It will only be for one night so doesnt have to be 5 Star. Something nice but not extreme.
Any help would be great.

Priceline often has 3* winning bids in the Ft. Lauderdale Beach zone at: 2 Sheraton's, Yankee Trader and the hotel across the street, Doubltree Ocean side and Galleria (about 2 blocks from the beach) but on the Intercoastal waterway are great. I won the Galleria for $75 in prime Winter season. Nice 2 room suites. Now Downtown FLL hotels are also good options: 2.5 * is Amerisuites, 3 * Embassy Suites and Marriott Marina. Don't go to Best Western Marina or Ramada's as both have gone way down hill.

Priceline is great for FLL area. Give it a try. I got the Marriott Marina for 2 rooms for $60 a piece - their website said $249 a night per room.

I got the Amerisuites in downtown FLL thru hotwire.com for 44$ per room(we needed 2 rooms, Legend Feb 04' )There are a coulpe of web sites that give hints on buying thru sites such as hotwire and priceline.I dont recall what they are ,maybe some else will.

Go to betterbidding.com and read the boards. The information there is amazing and they will actually give you a bidding strategy for finding a hotel if you post a request although you can probably get all the info you need just from reading the other posts. I got the Sheraton Biscayne Bay in Miami for our pre-cruise stay for $35, and I got the Marriott Marina in Fort Lauderdale for $49 for our post-cruise stay in November. Both on Priceline. Had never bid before and spent an evening reading the boards at betterbidding.com and then made my bids. It's awesome!
