Has anyone used this service while on board ? Any knowledge you might share as to how it works would be appreciated.

You can book a specific or an unspecific (open date & destination) future cruise on-board with a $100 per person deposit. You have 4 years to book the unspecific cruise with a travel agent or Princess. With any on-board booking you get on-board credit for the future cruise. If you book a 7-9 day cruise you get $25 pp for inside or $50 pp outside, 10-15 cruise $75pp for inside or $100pp for outside, 16+ days you get $125pp for inside or $150pp for outside.

In addition to what Ocean Queen has already said, when/if you transfer the booking to your travel agent you then can take advantage of any special deals/discounts that THEY are offering. AND it is fully refundable .... you can't lose. We just booked one on the Coral....and have no clue how we are going to use it yet.

another addition...Book early in your cruise. The line at the 'future cruise sales desk' gets quite long closer to the end of the voyage. I booked two open reservations on my Baltic cruise in August...I didn't have to specify a ship or a date.

This sounds great! I'll have to book a future cruise next month on the Coral Princess.
Can you still get other shipboard credits if the cruise line is offering one at the time you book your actual cruise or will you only get the one you receive for prebooking on the ship?

Me too! It's a win-win situation, IMO. Wish RCI would do as good of a program as Princess does with onboard bookings!

We were on the Regal Transcanal a month ago and we booked an Alaskan cruise in May. The first cruise to Alaska was totally booked??????????? so had to take the next one..we got the room we like D107,,,,,,,,,,near the elevator and stairs and one floor above the dining room and same deck as the top seating for shows............great place,,and middle of the ship. All the perks are great. It cannot beat it.................sailinsal

I just used my future booking for a cruise on the Golden in May. It was nice, because besides the $50pp for the future booking, we also got $25pp from our agent and got a great price. Plus, since we already put down our $100 deposit, we owed nothing at the time of this booking, except for insurance.

Booking while still onboard is definitely the way to go!

This is one that is a VERY Good Deal as its like free $$$. Even if U do NOT use it U can turn it in for a refund. We usually buy at least one ghost booking each cruise and used one of ours for the Coral P cruise in March and with the shipboard credits from the ghost booking and our agent we have $350 for the 10 day cruise. We are now looking into using the other ghost booking we have for a Spring 2005 cruise and will most likely pick up at least one more ghost booking in March for future use. :thumb Its a NO loose situation IMO.

They are right we did the same thing on our Coral cruise in Feb.and we booked a back to back Golden 2005...It worked great as we hand picked the same room for both cruises and will never leave the ship or repack yet get 2 itineraries on south carib out of San Juan...:)...Joanne

Are there any exceptions to the full refund? Or will they just refund your $$ no questions asked?

We booked for the Tahitian Princess 10-day on our last cruise and they gave us $100.00 pp ship aboard credit. Then a few weeks ago I received a flyer in the mail regarding booking for the Tahitian and we could get a ship aboard credit in the amount of $150.00 pp, when I called Princess about it they credited me with another $50.00 pp credit. We have not turned our reservation over to a TA yet, we are still trying to find a good.

It really works out nicely and if all goes well we will book another open cruise on board the Coral in a few weeks.

This is truly great ! it's a win, win situation all around. We'll be doing a 15 day Hawaii sailing in november of 2004 and we will definitely be booking a future cruise while on board.

Have NOT tested the waters so to speak Raven but a couple of people I know have and while it took a month or so to get the refund it was refunded to them.
