Misa,This is a tough question you have asked. Galaxy is a fine ship. I have sailed on it twice. And, you will like Celebrity's first class food and service. For main stream lines, they are tops in my opinion. You can also be assured that the crew will be cleaning, sweeping, painting, etc right up to the minute it enters dry dock for its refurb. But, one of the main reasons that it is scheduled to go in is that the public area carpets and furniture have reached the end of their useful life and need to be replaced. So, even though they will be tidy and clean, you will encounter wear and tear that will show. Honestly, for a first cruise you probably will be so busy doing things and having fun that you may not even notice. But, if there are other ships or other itineraries that suit you equally, and the prices are about the same, why take the chance? Perhaps you should look at the Constellation 10 or 11 day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. Constellation is Celebrity's highest rated ship (and their newest). I have sailed it three times and it is by far my favorite.Ted
